If true that might give us a good start for round 1

Who cares?? we got Jimmy Toumpas !!! Oh Hang on!!

  • Author

I still remember how much praise Garry Lyon used to give Toumpas.. it was getting to the point of embarrassing

In round 1 2014, St Kilda had 6 of their best 22 out and we still stunk up the joint against them.

I hope we don’t fall into the complacency trap as Port at their best will be a tricky assignment.

Port have good players _ Westhoff cuts us up regularly, for example.

Yes, no  room for complacency. I think we have the wood on the Power though.

Is it true Wines missed a Port training session or some kind of club function to attend Viney’s wedding?

Someone can correct me on this but wasn't it after a round one slaughter by Port in a game we were expected to win, Neely said at the presser " We didn't see that  coming"

Both teams are a total opposite to back then, we were a bad team getting worse, they were on the rise, now we are on a rise and their team was already weaker before wines injury.

He appeared to be one of the groomsmen at the wedding so perhaps he had permission. I doubt be just didn't turn up.

I’d say he was given permission. Just found it a tad comical that some Port fans are claiming Wines isn’t committed to the club because he attended a close friend’s wedding.

I don't think we were complacent in 2014...just not very good.

Neither were the Saints but they did have Nick Reiwoldt.

He & Etihad were the difference.

If we lose to Port complacency will have nothing to do with it....

Wedding was Jan 5. Port were still on their mandatory 3 week break at that time.

May b, that's where he hurt his shoulder,  putting it to the Vandenberg school of... 'harme's wrestling'.   ?  ?

.

He shouldn't have signed that contract.

Who cares.......

Enough of the rumours and innuendo Ethan. This kind of gossip posting is against Demonland rules

? ?

If he has popped the shoulder, some sort of damage has been done.  Scans today should determine exactly what.

News report last night showed him running around without any strapping.  But then G.Ablett was shown doing exactly the same 2 years ago when at the Suns.  Trouble was he couldn't lift his arm above shoulder height for another 6 months.

Clubs don't want the fans to lose hope before the season even starts.  He would be a huge loss to them if the prognosis isn't good.

It is better to break your shoulder then dislocate it, break it and they put in a rod and your back in 2 weeks

9 reporting he’s had minor surgery. They are saying a 6-8 week return.

Should Wines have been waterskiing ?

Footballers are full-time professionals and top players like Wines are contracted to play on big money.

What are the limits on what a player can and can't do?

If you incur an injury in training or a match fair enough.

But a high risk recreational activity like water skiing seems well....risky.

At the same time, the player should use some discretion. I seem to remember Jones stopped surfing during last season. That seems sensible.

sounds similar to a chaplin of ours in 2017...

Why would you break your shoulder, then dislocate it?

I got it - better to break than dislocate

This poster has been making the same mistake for as long as he has been posting. ALWAYS uses "then" in place of "than". He also gets very offended when you correct him.

hasn't had surgery yet.

"It's believed he won't need a full shoulder reconstruction, but will have surgery to tighten the ligaments."

My mistake dc. Went back and had a look at the tweet i read at midday. Was getting ready for it.

@VSchwarz9

Ollie Wines has entered Sportsmed for minor surgery, his shoulder injury not as bad as feared. It’s believed he will be back in 6-8 weeks.

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.
