‘landers it’s with a real heavy heart that I deliver this news, but I have it on very good authority that Col Sylvia has passed away in a car accident over the weekend. Please keep his family in your prayers.

It has not hit the media yet, and if the mods wanna pull the thread, then I understand.

Col was a great contributor to our club through some dark days and we should remember him this way.

rip Col

Just heard the same news.  I met you a number of times post match and you were always generous with your time.

Oh no that's horrible to hear.

Gone too soon, thoughts and prayers with the family.

Seriously horrible news.

I was hoping Col would have a chance to put his life back together as it was seeming to spiral out of control.

A bloke dieing that young is a tragedy if this is true. And if so, his parents need all the understanding in the world.

I can now confirm that it is a sad truth. I am sure details will surface soon, but I think we should just be respectful and keep the family and Col in our prayers tonight.

Before any speculation starts, it was a motor vehicle accident.

Grew up watching him as my favourite player, heart breaking watching him spiral out of control like this and now this huge rest in peace to him but a lot of life lessons learnt from him. still wear the number 12 with pride in all my sports teams as a result.

So sad.  i wouldnt be surprised if he had his own issues he was dealing with as he always seemed to out of control even in his 30's, the poor guy.  thoughts are with his family and friends

can we correct the spelling of his name in the title please?

Apparently true. And there will be a serious investigation is my mail.

As there is with all traffic accidents where there’s a fatality.

RIP Col, way too young.

Is there a link to this as I can’t find anything. Has it happened like in the last hour or so. This is [censored] if that’s the case

So, so sad.

I can't find any corroborating evidence of this story.

Tony Sheehan posted it on Twitter but all other posts about it seem to be based on that.

No news organisations have reported about it yet.

Not saying it isn't true but there is no other sources at this time.

Here is the Twitter post.

Tragic news. Was my favourite player whilst at the Dees. Played a couple of great games (30+ possessions and 4 goals against the Hawks comes to mind).

He had a troubled second half of his life. May you rest in peace Col.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
