Someone mentioned in another thread that we have apparently met with him. He’s tough at it, that’s for sure. I’d be happy if the club was keen.

Any connection with him to the great John Townsend Demon rover?

We could do worse. I think he is a better option than Tim Smith if either McDonald or Weideman is out of action.

Townsend is 187cm

What’s knock on him??

He was lighting it up in the last third of 2017 kicking 16 goals in 5 matches, including the granny.

and 84 kg and a forward pocket/half forward flank goal sneak.

If TMac or Weid go down we need a key position player to replace which Townsend definitely isn't

who said he was a replacement for a key forward...?

He would suit us down to the ground, A must have with our chaos footy. Tackling  pressure would go through the roof with Viney, Vandenberg, Clarry and Townsend in the same team.

Probably too similar to a lot of our other players to be legitimately interested in my view.

A yes for mine.

The whole 'rest Spargo' debate got tedious last year but having another mature body helping him out with the one percenters will do wonders for him.

No thanks. VFL standard player that fluked a patch of good form at the right time.

This about sums him up. If it wasn’t for those 11 goals he kicked in two weeks, no one would even know who he is.

Yes he's shorter than I thought he was, plays taller.

No, he is a scrubber. Might aswell just re-draft Tom Bugg.

Don't understand the need to pick up spuds from other clubs unless they fill a need on our list.

And please dont say hes a premiership player.. he's the same boat as Mitch Morton, Steven Armstrong, Jonathon Simpkin as absolute duds who were carried throughout that finals period.

If Garlett is finished, Townsend is up for serious consideration.

What is the Garlett situation?

Do we intend to get him back in the Seniors or will he play out his contract at Casey??

apart from a few weeks late 2017, his stats are pretty underwhelming. can see why toiges are delisting him. a no from me

Tall forwards: T Mc, Weid, T Smith
Medium forwards: Melsham, Petracca, Hannan
Small forwards: ANB, Spargo, (Garlett if he isn't retired)

Mids/forward: Vanders, JKH, ? Fritsch

There's not a lot of depth to our forwards. After the 7 who played in last years finals it's either T Smith or Preuss to cover the talls or midfielder types to cover the small and medium options assuming Jeffy is cactus. Obviously the draft is the number 1 priority here to find some long term quality but there's room for a ready made depth option.

I'd be searching the delistings and state leagues looking for a crumber, but if there's not one out there I can see why you take Townsend because he's a reliable defensive pressure player who can do a job whilst the other forwards kick the goals.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
