Interested to hear what everything thinks about this - would we do a deal considering that Kent will leave and AVB is also weighing up his future?  It seems like it could be a large turnover for us considering how well we are going, but I guess this is what happens when you have greater depth, something we haven't had for a decade.

Sounds like a few clubs have show some interest, but whether or not they would give us something decent in return is debatable.

I'd rather keep AVB than Tyson 

Matty Lloyd on trade radio thinks he's better suited elsewhere and will struggle to get games at Melb next year. 

Tyson is a keeper. Can be damaging when he has a run at it. And one injury to our best contested ball winners (eg clarry, Viney) means he is really important for next year 

I just assumed he was leaving.

Not sure Kent moving affects Tyson.

Vanders does and so does the ability to land KK and potentially 1 more ready to play outside mid. If we Vanders goes and we find 2 replacements then Tyson goes. If Vanders stay and we add KK then Tyson goes as well.

He might have value now. After next season barring improvements or change in position I can't see him having any trade value. So if we can cash in on his value now we should. Anything top 40 in the draft or of similar value would be enough to me.

Obviously we’re happy to move him for the right deal, but we didn’t really need this confirmed, did we? 

I’m sure it will be offered eventually.

Where have I heard this before?

One of our biggest strengths is our depth and it would appear we are losing as much as possible in the one year...  Tyson fills a role when a first choice mid is unavailable. We need plays like this

Massaging us, to let us know it's on.... he filled a purpose at the time, and fit's better as an inside mid elsewhere, essendon, wb perhaps.

Damaging to who?

He runs hard to get the ball and he has clean reliable hands over head and in traffic. That's a useful player even if unsuited to the wing.

Oliver, Viney, Brayshaw and Harmes are the starting mids, but we can cover them with Petracca, Vanders (if he stays), Nath Jones (short term next year should be young enough to provide some inside midfield cover), Maynard - who's both overrated and underrated on here but can play if given a chance and even ANB or Salem if required. Plus inside mid is the easiest position to pick up a state league or delisted player. 

If we are to lose Kent, AVB and Tyson this trade period - our depth is going to take a big hit

I would definitely keep Tyson. Let's not forget that Kennedy-Harris was in the side until Viney returned, and he is a long way from being an AFL footballer.

Perhaps Tyson is not automatic best 22, but every team has injuries during the course of a season and you need some cover. I would hate to lose Tyson and have to resort to playing a bloke like Maynard in a big game. At least you know that Tyson will find the footy and use it reasonably well.

The player himself doesn’t want to play reserves though.

I think all parties just being polite yet guarded. 

He'd probably go all right at a few other clubs where the line is shorter. 

I don't particularly mind Dom and think he's often misjudged as to the ability to play a role. That said if others are being sought for running roles Dom's out in the cold. Just what is I guess.

Was it Maynard's 15 disposals tagging Ablett, 18 disposals on debut playing wing and half forward against the Giants or the copious times he had 25+ touches in the VFL in his first season of footy in years that convinced you he can't find the footy? There's also no way you could describe Tyson's ball use as reasonably well.

Maynard has a lot of work to do but he has the one  thing Tyson is very unlikely to ever get back - the athleticism to play AFL. The quick burst basketball steps are needed to compete in tight, Dom doesn't have it, so they play him on a wing, but that's even worse because if he's beaten on the outside guys can run passed him. Plus now he's required to hit his targets more by getting the ball in space and his kicking this year was abysmal. 

Tyson is depth, and if you can get something back for depth and bring in what you need then it's an easy decision

what is that 10+ players now that are out of here??  we better get busy in trade week!
