If the conspiracy theory you’ve dreamed up makes you feel sick, maybe stop thinking about it for a little while?

It is not a dream Nasher, it is me putting all the pieces together and trying to come up with an answer.

If it is true then it is the fact that the AFL and Fox have got together and concocted this scenario that makes me sick.

Every year that goes by I feel more and more manipulated by the powers that be. And that makes  me angry.

Never mind we will find out tomorrow night.

If a multi club trade is announced I will consider myself vindicated.

Hogan stays. Circus continues another 12 months.

Bell to take the Neale pick 5 to the superdraft, or trade it up for two mid first rounders. Get Hogan in on the cheap next year while adding top shelf young talent to their list now.

As a result May to go to a Melbourne based club, just not us.

Of course I’m not happy with this outcome as a Dees supporter. But this is the route I believe Freo under Bell and Rosich are taking.

They’re not the dills many on here want to cast them as.

I would hate to think of what sort of pie will get thrown at you if you are wrong.

The Age article has us, hypothetically, getting May, KK and Pick 23 for Hogan.

It's not a sexy deal by any means, but we address two needs - a key back and outside run - while still potentially maintaining a very potent forward line, while also holding on to our first round picks for the next few years that we can use for further moves over the coming seasons.

It's a good outcome, although I can understand why people may see this as unders to begin with.

May - A player who fills a hole that has cost us multiple game this year.

KK - Was pick 5 in 2013.  Looks a bit of a Morton, given his pace, skills and lack of contested game.  That being said his brother has turned into a bit of a beast for Geelong, so maybe there's something there.

Pick 23 - Who knows?  Last few pick 23's have included: Will Walker; Alex Witherden; David Cunningham; Pat McKenna; Matt Crouch; Marco Paparone.  In other words, a mixed bag, but a couple of good ones here and there.

Overall, I'd feel that we probably got a bit less than Hogan is worth, but it would be a solid return in terms of getting what we wanted out of the trade period.

I expect we probably are having a look at a few Delisted Free Agents if we need 8 players.

Purely for depth purposes only, I wouldn't be adverse to having some players like Sam Gibson, Tom Bell, Jackson Merrett, Cory Gregson, Nathan Freeman. Guys that can come in and play a role if we are struck bad by injuries.

https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/more-news/afl-list-changes-every-player-who-has-retired-or-been-delisted-in-2018/news-story/edfcb8470efd9dc61d0c50a89926e3e5 list can be found here if people want to have peruse!

Nathan Wright as back up in the event Nevill were to get injured. We need another small defender in the squad.

If we take that club it will be on the club to spin it in the way you have there. At the end of the period every club will be saying they are happy because they have filled need X and managed to trade into/remain in position Y in the draft.

We will definitely be getting unders for Hogan and Mahoney’s bold statement of a trade for hogan being up there as one of the highest of all time will look like a complete joke.

All the traders should be locked in a room with no chairs, no food, no water, no toilets and not be let out until all the deals are done.

now this is the trade tv show id watch. Only one emerges alive - and gets all the trades for their club.

Need to take a lesson out of Hawks they kept their mouths shut until deals were done. Unsure why Mahoney has been talking so much.

I must've missed the resolution of the Wingard / Burton kerfuffle.

I know they’re just numbers but Jake Kolodjashnij was pick 41 in the same draft as Kade....stating the obvious, but there has to be something there that recruiters saw in Kade for him to be taken at 5.

Lets hope so anyway..

Wonder why we requested to use our 2019 first rounder in a trade...

Have we received a response to this?

If so, surely Lewis can flick some emails around for the players to sacrifice the salary cap required to keep Hogan and get May

Really said we needed to do hogan deal to get May etc etc

Not really. He was asked whether we could get May without offloading Hogan to which he replied no. He didn’t bring it up to my knowledge. Simply being honest.

Scully's ankle is [censored] and Wingard is a downhill skier.

Plus they are losing Burton who is a very promising young gun. Had a poor season this year but was a gun in 2017.

We can only hope that Burton is a gun and Scully & Wingard are busts. Seriously other than the Dees winning a flag my greatest hope is to see Hawthorn slide. 50 years of domination is enough.

The conspiracy theory that trade period is largely a manufactured farse is actually doing the rounds at the moment - and not just one poster here's thought bubble

I agree that there is growing whispers that the last day is when trades must be announced in line with the Fox telecast.

Good question. It’s probably been mentioned somewhere in these 380 odd pages. Was this plan B for May if Jesse stayed? Or do we have someone else in mind and we’ve kept really quiet about it?

Pre-concussions Kade was a gun. Second in their BnF a few years back. He was on his way to being an All Australian standard half back flanker. Unfortunately he suffered multiple concussions and hasn’t been the same since. Hopefully our medical team will be able to work their magic like they did with Brayshaw. It may take time, but if he can get past the health issues and get back fulfilling his potential we’ll have an AA standard half back or winger on our hands. He’s an elite kick, has good pace and agility and isn’t afraid to go when his turn. He’s the biggest potential steal of the trade period.

Far too much reference to "bending over" and "shafting" on this board.  Really have a think about it and grow up!

When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
