Hogan and Lobb will be salivating with the likes of Lachie Neale sticking it down their throat... oh hang on.

I was a fan, but like ProDee I question why any sane, driven player would bail out now.

Take solace in the fact that Weid has performed in front of back to back 90k crowds. Something Hogan will never experience.

I have already had my meltdown and cannot work out what is going on in Hogans head. I still think this "I am homesick" twist for the playing life of an AFL footballer is ridiculous.

We traded unders for him but if there is something wrong with him then fair enough.

We have 7 senior list vacancies and 7 pics if we need them.  We won't need them if we run with less than 40 players on our list or we take a delisted free agent.

I will update the 'Contracts' thread after pick trading closes in a few days an dwe know a bit more about the length of May, Preuss and Kolodjashnij contracts.

I reckon we might pick up a few delisted players with late picks.

Hoping for an O'Halloran or Duursma (maybe even a Rankine!)

By bringing in 28 as well as 23, maybe we could get our hands on both Xavier's.

Seems we have traded picks 36&46 to Saints for pick 28.

noooo

So do you think we will be a worse side next year with no Hogan but May & KK in? Think about our wins without Hogan then answer.

Edit: How many more wins if we had had May? 2 = top 4 finish

Considering we finished 4th, 23 is not so far off what would have been our first round pick.

Neale wanted to go to lions and was a free agent next year and yet they got a better deal than us, dees caved, we could have got at least he same deal next year. Plus picked up May as a free agent. Maybe then we would have had ammo to target Kelly. We sold the farm to get May 1 year early. Unless we win the flag next year this was a nonsensical trade

This is the new improved "Gill's equalisation" at work, I think.

So my lying eyes were telling the truth?!

Its that damn observable reality again...

Defenders 190cm+

Petty, OMac, Lever, Keilty, Frost, J Smith, May, Kolodjashnij

Forwards 190cm+

Weideman, TMac, T Smith

I know that Kolodjashnij is a flanker but I feel like we are now way too top heavy down back, while being too thin up forward. Overall I think we're now further away from a premiership and that we should have got more for Hogan. Hopefully Jason Taylor can find a bargain key forward in the draft.

Put a line through T Smith as he is a VFL player only - I asked the same question in another post I think we are light on for tall forwards too

23, 28 and 54 for GC Pick 6?

Pretty much equal on points...

1751 for them 1712 for us

Edit:  Just heard we have done a pick trade with the Saints.  I think it was two late picks for an earlier one but will confirm when it comes thru.

Who knows there me still be a player trade to be done...

Has been confirmed LH, it's in the Trade Tracker on AFL website

As an aside, and placed in this thread because it's the most problematic...I haven't had a day at work as unproductive as this one since the day Paul Roos was announced as coach. Damn you Demonland!

Would love us to package 28 and 23 and trade high into the first round

Yes that's clarified things!

Glad the circus that was “will Hogan stay or go” has moved on, was over it and we need all players at the MFC 100% on board in 2019 if we,re going to have a serious tilt at glory.

Go Demons.

I would have liked to see him kicking bags for Melbourne for a decade. Now, I wish him all good fortune in his personal life and none at all professionally. May he prosper as the highest paid player in the lowest ranked team.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrow’s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the team’s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at season’s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
