Hogan         a  potential  champ but a long way to go.We dont want to loose him. This could be as bad as 65 when RDB left to go the blues, which totally destroyed the mfc ,you cant throw away champions

The trade offer from Freo does not match the size of the contract or JH age. Its a BS low ball offer straight out of Trumps “Art of the Deal”.  Its designed to try and force MFC into a mid position. Problem is that this tactic only works when you are in a position of power. In this instance Jesse has not requested a trade and is  contracted.

Bell needs to read up on negotiation tactics. This is amateur hour.

The only strategy left for MFC is to walk away and force JH to play out his contract.

BB you keep hinting that there is a secret big cross against JH, but at the moment the only evidence of it is Freo's weak offer.   Until someone produces some more evidence, I'll just assume Freo are just waiting till next year.

There's something not quite right... surely.

Love to know what .

I ask myself....why ARE we now quite keen to see off Jesse ?

Why aren't Freo so enraptured at having the opportunity ?

Why isn't WCE sniffing at the door ?

I'm not sure as to the nature of this animal ....not any more.

I haven't been one to rate Hogan nearly as high as many, but that aside this offer is below low ball. Ambit for sure...but still.

There's dealing...and there's poking the bear.

Very odd

People are missing the point. Ignore the final offer bit. They are now making an offer. Plenty of time for more "final offers" between now and Wednesday.

These nuffs will say anything for a news grab but none of them are ever held accountable. Ever.

See Damien Barrett for his nonsense call on Dayne Beams.

Honestly, football news breakers are the lowest of common denominators.

They're genuine scum.

Yeh I said it.

Scum.

If a deal doesn't get done I think JH and his management would be pretty filthy with Freo. Could be the instigation to get him to sign a long-term deal.

How I read it:

Freo offer 11 and future 2nd. Everybody outraged.

They then real late in the piece appear to concede and swap pick 11 for 5 and we accept.

However they are just trying to avoid giving up 5 and 11. I hope we call their bluff and keep young Jesse

Thing is GNF Fremantle need hogan, they have nothing to sell to their members and so on. The club is a mess and they desperately need a big signing. Jesse answers their prayers but sadly bell is trying to puff his chest out and wants to get hogan, lobb and keep pick 5, or Neale.

Give us pick 11, 2019 first and Ed Langdon and we are closer to the mark.

Re your questions: I'm just guessing....:

1.  Keen because we'd rather lose him now than in a year

2.  We don't know they aren't enraptured. They may just be very odd negotiators.

3. Maybe WCE are or would like to be but I understood they had nothing to trade now.

Actually rather he sign back on instead of dudding us all next year. Why would he want to be part of Docker shockers?

Do they have 5?

Bloody Fremantle...

"DAYNE Beams will play at Brisbane next year, according to the club.

The Lions today rubbished a potential trade of Beams to Collingwood.

It is understood speculation can be traced back to Fremantle, which is in trade talks with the Lions over ball magnet Lachie Neale."

Well Dodoro's title of Trade Week Ars-hole,  has probably been taken by Bell. He is actually seeking to destabilize clubs and players, if this report is true.

He should be taken to task by the other clubs.

So Freo probably offer Hogan $1-$1.2m then offer those picks.........you've got to laugh? Don't you? lol

This is what happens when the CEO/Board get involved and take over negotiations from the FD. Didn't Paul McNamee do something similar?

Melbourne's position has changed.....???

Standby..

Final offer? Straight out of the How to Haggle handbook.

Dayne beans requests trade back to Collingwood.

Can someone imagine some complicated way this could facilitate the Neale deal?

Maybe the Pies are nagging away with more cashe`, since the GF loss...  and Gaff signing back on with WCE.

Edee is a deetermined El Pres.

I think Moore signed back on with the Pies, when it seemed May wanted to be with the Dees.

So Yes I can imagine some 'Beams' deal getting done, for a pick keeping the Lions in the Early draft.

It feels like Freo want their cake, and eat one as well.

where is this snippet coming from @McQueen?

Freo cannot offer 5 as they do not hav it yet.  They have put an offer on the table relating to their best current pick.  We say no, do better, and see what emerges if the Neale deal drops.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
