How can Cripps get 2 votes when his team lose by 104 points!!!!!!!!!!

Very much look forward to seeing our total team votes. Rarely get a player in double figures let alone near the leaderboard!

He'll win a Brownlow if they ever double their win count.

It's a disgrace, anything to keep them relevant.

If Oliver wore a helmet he would have acquired 57 votes.

Brayshaw had an insane last half of the year. I had him in my supercoach all year and he deserved his votes.

Disgraceful.  Got votes when they were massacred.

He was good but not enough to warrant better than the winners best 3 or best 6 !!

2 in top 5.... Great effort.

Did Braysh missing out on the first few rounds cost him the medal? ;)

How about the run by Brayshaw! Could have had 2nd if Sidearse didn’t pinch 3 in the last.

Gawn v St Kilda

25 possessions, 11 marks, 39 hitouts, 10 votes by the coaches.

No Brownlow votes.

Wow

Whilst not compensation for the disappointment of the weekend, how good was it to have 3 players “taking votes off each other” - brilliant work lads and bring on 2019.

second most to the filth. They got something like 96 total votes, we got 93.

WDFD, they're in a GF and we aren't. Sidebottom is and Mitchell isn't. That's the one that really matters

Put in a big summer and go again Gussy!!

Hope this isn't lost on some of our developing players

Jones and Neal-Bullen stole votes off Clarry and Gawn

Mitchell wins as there is no one to take votes off him at the hawks. If he stayed at the swans no way he would have won.

Gus is a fricken gun!

He did...im not denying that. Well done to Gus.

...and well done on your SuperCoach team.

In fairness he did have 37 disposals (23 contested) and 17 clearances...

I am so pleased for Gus. Taken at pick 3 and now showing his worth in a breakout year. Now for the guy taken at pick 2 to show us his worth,  I talking about you Trac.

I’d just like to note that someone deacribed Gus as “not AFL standard” in the prelim match thread.

CP5 = 3 votes. Long way to go if he wants to be a Hall Of Famer...

Time on his side i guess.

No Brownlow votes.

It begs the immediate and obvious question.

Should it be decided by head coaches alone? Just roll the coaches award into the actual Brownlow.

Eighteen coaches with intimate knowledge of who really impacts the matches versus the umps who year on year make huge blunders like the one you’ve highlighted.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
