Drove all around Lismore with Dees scarf out window.

Old bloke at work caught me at entrance with a chuckle seeing my scarf - "good luck tonight"

It's Australia Vs the Hawks.

Will be watching on from Indonesia. Nervous as hell. Go you Demons. An Indonesian guy here said good luck for your team. So its now The World Vs The Hawks !

Still a little concerned tonight as I think our meeting earlier this year wouldve occured even with the 7 or so players now in. They got us on the spread as we overcommitted to the ball. And we probably still will play the same way. If it's a close game, then the Hawks simply don't lose them.

Either way I'm not expecting any one result and will be pleased with the year in it's totality. Will of course be stressed tonight, but I think a weight has been lifted since last week. Apologies for not being manic with premiership fever!

They got us because we played dumb footy in the wet. Different team now.

Hawthorn were a different team in the second half of the year as they got on a big winning streak too. Can't count them out merely because we're a different team and weather won't be wet. Expecting a big fight tonight to win

Fox Footy playing 2017 Melb Hawks. Scores level half way through the last. We looked ok, but Gee there’s a lot of players not in our current team for various reasons. Watts, Bugg, Pedo, JKH, Jeffy, Bernie, Jesse, Hunt, Wagner. And it was only last year, and we thought that side was pretty good at the time.

Nowhere near as nervous today as I was last Friday at this time, not sure if that is a good thing or not. Can't wait for the roar as the game gets underway. I really think we've got this. We never looked like relenting last week, I can't see us taking a step back tonight. We have more talent on the ground and a game plan that stacks up well in finals. Of course we could lose, any team in the eight could lose on any given day, but I don't think we will.

Bring it on!

This is exactly how I feel today.

Mind you, I'm heading to the G wearing the same clothes, at the same time, eating the same pre-game food, going to the same gate, just to be sure haha

Well I've reached the 'feel the need to vomit' stage now.

1 of 2 urgent things I needed to finalise today at work are done. Now just waiting to finish a few things with China, and their 2 hour time delay is really stressing me out. Don't they know the footy is on tonight?!

On the plus side, the lucky charm is coming tonight. Last week he told me pre-game we would win by around 36 points and he wasn't far off. This morning he said we will win by 2 goals.

Wont be @ the G tonight lads... Might give Steven May a buzz & see if he wants to watch the game?

I hope all you demons get there in droves!

Have a hot jam doughnut for GCDEE!!!

Opposite for me, Hawks a far tougher opponent. Our hunger though is dead-set palpable!!

Anxious & doing FA at work - a normal day for me.

Jordan Lewis lifted for his 300th and was very good last week except for one lucky moment.  I expect him to really give it all tonight.

Another who is nervous as hell despite being simultaneously confident. I hate it when we are:

1) outright favourites, and/or

2) Garry Lyon picks us!

it has rarely augered well for us in the past!

May have been asked but cyril cant be a late in for the hawks can he?

Lets not get in front of ourselves.... but Dusty injured at Tiges training...

Yeap, Imperial has cheap pints too. Now we’re heading to the rooftop at the Corner.

I believe so....

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but players are not removed from the list until OCT.

Hence they still can be selected.

What a selection bombshell it would be if they picked Cyril...

Yeap think that is correct and was “joked” about on one of the footy shows during the week.

Super nervous and keen for a beer 8 hours before Gawny jumps.

Will try and time my run.

We've been pumped up so much this week. Trying to put all of those big games we've blown over the last decade out of my mind.

This team has transformed, this team has transformed.......

To all those heading there tonight. Soak it in and yell your guts out.
Go Dees!

Any idea what time is advised to arrive at gate 3?

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
