Jetta: best 7 disposal game ever?

Yes, because each one was super critical. 5 contested, of which I can recall 3 were on Danger when forward: the one handed mark that would have been a free, and the two actual frees that came about from being in the prime position.

I am surprised I didn't get a bang on the wall from my neighbor after Jones' and Hannan's goal. Happiest I have been for a very long time as a Demons' supporter.

We have work to do with finishing next week but the good thing is that there is room for improvement.

The Weed was also absolutely SENSATIONAL!

The tournament is still live. We win next week and it's anyone's premiership.

Seriously was close to tearing up.

YOU LITTLE ANZAC!

So the ticket dance starts again.

what did you think of Weed OD ?

Watched it in a pub in London with my brother and a small bunch of other Dees fans. I’m still trying to decide if it was all a dream.

I didn’t get many chances to sing the song after before I moved here, and I can’t remember the last win I have witnessed live. But singing the song with a group of Dees faithful, and my brother after winning our first final in 12 years.....it actually felt a little surreal.

You can’t wipe the smile off my face!

A grand total of zero Demons fans here mate.

I don't give a rat's though.

Beer time for me!

Fantastic win!

That's a win for the ages ... our destiny is in our own hands.

At the end if the game Chanel 7 was showing all supporters and they focused on one dees supporter who was crying.

This is how much it means to some of us. What a beautiful thing to see.

I have been saying this for years - Dangerfield is the most overrated player of the modern era.

Just got home, great win, god I am exhausted! Game should have been wrapped up at half time so I spent the second half waiting for the Garry Dangerwood show to crank up but we shut it down brilliantly.

Yep, the Sydney pub I ended up at was all about the Rugby League, barely an AFL person, let alone a demon.

But even that crowd was cheering during Hannan's run-in - possibly helped draw some attention when I momentarily lost it when his opponent slipped and I yelled "RRRUUN" like some kind of horror movie cliche.

Was Jetta annoyed about not being AA?

Danger may be one of the best and most influential players in the league - but not up forward in Jetta territory. Take note AA selectors, next time you try to squeeze in extra players on the team-sheet out of position.

No.

We are Melbourne, a sleeping giant, those that were there in 87 understand

I went to all the finals 98-2006 and don’t recall such massive support maybe just coz it’s been so long

I needed a proper moment after that.

Ferocious!

Supporter turnout - wow!

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
