Its not just his ability in the contest that sets him apart it it his tank and gut running to get to so many contests.

Watch how he roves on the ground, disposes to advantage and then he still chases them on the wing.

The most complete and dominant ruckman of his time.

First time ever, during the regular season. What a man! The best part is it is not just about bashing the ball around, it’s about finding a team mate.

Excellent.

All Australian and Brownlow...

what a year from the big man #fearthebeard

If he wins, his speech would go down as the best thing to have happened to the AFL until we win a flag the next week.

If he doesn't poll 20+ Brownlow votes the award needs to be changed from a midfielders award to an accurate award.

You forget the Normie .... or has Dasher Frost locked that one in (not that anyone here would ever dream of getting ahead of themselves) ?

Great work from Max to cap off another All Australian season!

5 stars. Would recommend.

6 Star...By Far.

He had a joke when interviewed and said he couldn't remember the last few minutes of the 1st game against Geelong this year.

It's not just 1000 taps to random spots/his feet. It's 900 taps to advantage and 100 to 50/50s.

Plus all the ones that bounce badly that he hits away from the umpires in protest.

If we make the GF, I think it works out to be big Max's 100th game, so would be quite a day for the big fella.

He would bring the house down with his good attitude to life and footy.

Bruce should ask him if he knows any AC/DC songs. He'd then make PM!

I think it is a terrific effort and it is a vast improvement in the quality of his ruckwork. I think the highlight was against Footscray in the 3rd Q when MFC played perfect football for about 15 minutes purely from the linking at the centre bounces where Gawny just seemed to put the ball into Clarrie, Gus Trac and Harmesy. Last Sunday was equal because of the quality oas well.

AFLCA winner!!! The stars are aligning team!!! We will crush Geelong - the time is ours

Well done Max, having a great year.

i love the visual on the games when, after a goal, Max walks back to the center for the bounce and is with Oliver, Brayshaw and Harmes. Such a good strong unit. They are obviously chatting about where to place the ball.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
