How good has he been since hes come back to the side!? I've always rated him and was shocked how he wasn't in the team earlier on the year.

Fast, powerful, courage, 2nd efforts are just some of the traits thats really stood out this year!

On ya Frosty!

Has been enormous, cuts down space quicker than anyone on our list and hurts you the other way.  A Godsend for our defence.

I think the big difference with Frost is he is no longer running around like a chook with no head. When it's on he goes. When it's not he now has the patience/composure to find a better option

Lever must be nervous... or tutoring him.

The first lesson every Melbourne coach and player should learn is not to count on Frost to know anything. The best approach is to treat him like an athletically-gifted manchild, or else some kind of football-playing robot.

Give him simple instructions and he'll follow them to the best of his absurd athletic ability. Fail to explain things clearly enough though and Sambot will proceed to beat Tom Hawkins in a one-on-one marking contest, but then bolt down the field and hoof it directly to a nest of cats for no reason whatever because his programming has gone haywire.

My post from a month ago.

Thanks for listening Goody.

What about his foot skills.  Hes hitting targets like its nobodys business....  looking superb.

Hardly any Frostyisms in the last few weeks. Very pleasing. How about him charging off half back and putting it down TMac’s throat?

I still suspect that there will be moments where he’ll stuff up and it will be costly, but I’m accepting that that’s the player we understand we are selecting and won’t bag him when it happens. Really happy with his present form. For his faults, the bloke has serious wheels.

For the majority here who could not see Frost’s value to the team, it is a cop-out now to suggest he is a different footballer now.

He is still prone to the odd poor kick, and god forbid, holding the pill.  While many supporters focus on these, his closing speed and rebound-inducing-overlap is pivotal to a slowish team.

Roos couldn’t believe that he was playing for Casey, as did a few backers here.

Lever’s injury forced our hand; and Frost is sticking it up a majority of supporters and a doubting coaching group.

Should have been in before petty, potentially cost us top 4 spot that decision

Make no mistake, we would be 2nd on the ladder if Sam Frost had been picked when he should have.

Has been enormous the last month and deserves all the akolades.

A much improved player.

Just shows what confidence does.

Maybe, that was a turning point for him.?

Has he improved much, since that time?

Having Frost and Hibberd back has really helped Oscar re-discover some poise and confidence as well.

He actually might be quicker than Hunt....for real.

Frosty, love his speed and goes towards goal as a first option. Not many big forwards will catch him.

Frosty's speed and direct running are a weapon. Think his run and direct pass to TMac in Q1 today.

Can't wait for a hb line of Frost, Lever and Hunt. Catch us if you can.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast
