5th and 8th are the only realistic finishes I think. If we lose to GWS, Geelong beating GC by about 50 points gets the job done for them on percentage. 

Collingwood losing to Freo is a nice dream, but it’s just that - a dream. The cue will be well and truly in the rack for the Dockers. They’re terrible even with cue in hand.

    The cue might well be in the rack but there is such a thing as pride Nasher. ?

    Seriously though, the question is worth asking as to whether it’s possible for teams to come back after a thrashing like the 133-point Fremantle debacle.

    What happens next?

    The commentators have latched onto the Round 23 game from 2016 when Sydney beat Richmond by 113 points. A week later, the Swans lost their Qualifying Final game to the GWS Giants by 36 points at ANZ Stadium although they did recover in time to make the Grand Final which they lost to the Bulldogs. The Tigers’ next match was the opening game of 2017 in which they beat Carlton by 43 points and, by year’s end, they were the premiers.

    On the way to winning that flag Richmond played St Kilda in Round 16 when the Saints won by 67 points at Etihad Stadium after leading 14.8.92 to 1.4.10 at half time when a pall of smoke from plastic melting in microwaves hung over Melbourne. The Tigers won 9 of their next 10 games including the return game v the Saints by 41 points and of course, the grand final. 

    And what happened to St Kilda in the game immediately after their big win over Richmond? They returned to Etihad and endured a 10 goal defeat to Essendon.

    But the most outstanding comeback would have to be in Round 18, 1979 when Melbourne beat Essendon by 29 points after suffering the biggest defeat in VFL/AFL history by 190 points one week earlier to Fitzroy at Waverley. That’s a turnaround of 219 points - a result that would give great solace to those of us who are hoping against hope that the Dockers can make a similar recovery and beat the Pies at the weekend.

    Not to mention, the Cats falling from grace and losing to the Suns to allow Port Adelaide back into the premiership race.?

    Anything could happen!

    The final round of the home and away season often turns up shock results - see Port drawing with (I think it was) Richmond a few years back (2012?), Melbourne dropping the game to the filth last year etc.

    Bears and the Shockers absolutely could get it done...here’s hoping they can, and we do the right thing by society and knock off that franchise on our home deck

    All we need to do is concentrate on the only thing we can control

    Smash GWS at the G and get some real momentum going into finals

    The rest doesnt matter whether we play Richmond Geelong or Gws  in the first final

    The Game restarts again. That is our biggest test.

    If we lose to GWS but somehow Geelong doesn’t pass us on percentage, we’ll finish 7th and play the loser of Sydney-Hawthorn.

    If we beat GWS we’ll finish 5th, or if we lose and Geelong pass us and we finish 8th, if we win our first final we get the loser of Richmond v the winner of Syd-Haw. 

    So I suppose it depends on whether you see us beating GWS or not.

    The Dockers will be pumped up this weekend. Do it for Danyle Pearce......he’s  retiring i believe....hopefully they play him.

    Hoping Hawthorn win and they finish 4th.

    We'll either finish 5th or 8th, and if we win week 1 we'll play Hawthorn at the G (assuming they lose to Richmond) in week 2 as opposed to Sydney up there.

    Cats, if we win we finish 5th. 5 v 8. Lose and we're away to GWS 5 v 8. I'd prefer Cats at the G, just to drive the dagger into Chris Scott.

    If we beat GWS and finish 5th should we lobby the AFL to play elimination final at Edihad?  While the thought of playing a home final away from Our Home is not very palatable, the wasteland seems to suit our gamestyle. In any case if we finish fifth I will look forward to our vengeance on Geelong.

    If we beat a very good GWS team at the MCG this week, we can beat anyone there.

    You can put that miraculous turnaround down to the amazing feats of the MFC Team Manager at the time, a genius of a man.

      Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans.Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

      For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

      The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
