Round 23 is shaping to be a very exciting end to the home and away season. If we lose today, North beat Adelaide, Oort lose to Essendon next Friday and we lose to GWS then the final round - North v St Kilda will decide if we make the 8.

If I were a betting man then I'd wager on this happening and bith of the Scott Brothers edging us out of contention. What an exciting final two rounds.

    2017 ... missed the finals with 12 wins.

    2018 ... currently on 12 wins. If we lose the last 2 matches, same outcome.

    If we miss out again, has this been an improved performance? Or the same, or worse?

    Higher percentage, yes.

    Beating the teams we should beat? Yes, for the most part. 

    However, not pulling off any great wins (unlike last year - WC/Perth, Crows/Adelaide) is a massive difference. I know we beat Crows in Adelaide this year, but they werent flying like Crows last year.

    So, my view is that if the team loses both games, it has gone backwards

    2016 ... missed finals, 10 wins, choked in last two games and missed out by 8 points.

    Interestingly, if we are confident that Essendon will beat Port we could wrap the players in cotton wool and have them cherry ripe for the finals. This also applies if GCS beat Geelong but GCS play like a soulless franchise with no supporters.

    Maybe a few late outs? Rest Maxy?

    Honestly, I'd be hoping, if we have wrapped up a finals spot today, that we'd be pushing GWS hard next week, without much in the way of pressure.

    Only if north lose today. I saw port live at the G yesterday and very underwhelming. Absolutely will be gob smacked if not taken down by bombers next friday.

    I'd be amazed if Adelaide won. They will be tanking in order to get pick 10 again from us I reckon.

      Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
