Why are people freaking out? Port losing means that they drop out of the 8. If we win a game, we are in.

If we don't, we need port to lose and North to lose one. Cats were always going to finish 1 game clear of us with their draw. Their percentage means nothing.

Port look a broken team, could actually see the druggies knock them off next week. Hopefully we don’t have to rely on that result.

If we get 13 Geelong is the only team who can pass us, and given Port are going to lose to Collingwood no one else can.

With Port's loss, if we get to 13 we cannot miss the finals.

And if Port lose next week and Adelaide beat NM this week, we're locked into the top 8.

We're still precarious even if we get to 13 wins until a few more results go our way. It goes without saying that if we lose both games it would take a perfect combination of other results to go our way to make it on 12 wins. Frankly I'd rather miss finals than qualify without beating a single top 9 team.

How? Port won't catch our percentage, nor will North. If we win 13, we are 100% guaranteed in.

Pies beating up port in the last. Hate to say they look ominous. Reminding me of dees game v pies - hard to tackle, weight of numbers and closed down all space defensively.

Just makes me think we're a way off.

Hate the pies.

Don't listen to the peanuts in the Herald Sun who make nuff nuff jokes at our expense to appeal to their little Aussie battler audiences. Their idea of punching upwards is making jokes at a supposedly 'elitist' football team while propping up elite interests via their stable of dancing bear commentators.

While I want us to go into September with a guaranteed finals spot, we aren't out of this thing by any stretch of the imagination even if we lose.

Yes, we all saw what happened last year when we had to rely on other results to go our way to qualify. Spoiler alert: it will be our undoing if we rely on such uncontrollable outcomes yet again.

The team have their fate entirely in their own hands now. Win ONE game, they play finals. Lose both, we miss. Bloody simple equation. We had 2 bonus lives in Sydney and West Coast. We've already blown the first. Let's hope we don't blow the second. Nobody wants it to come down to next Sunday because we all know how this team folds under any ounce of pressure.

i have my delusional Cats mate txting me.......they have now kicked more goals in a row than any team ever....i didnt reply

Sorry, you're right. Was confusing myself about qualifying on 12 wins. Theoretically we make it on 12 wins with just two more results:

Adelaide Def North

Essendon Def Port

If North win both their matches and we lose both, we'll miss. We're very bloody precarious until we get to 13.

Yep, according to Champion Data. The record was 16, they now have 18

Fremantle. Just go [censored] yourselves, seriously.

I [censored] hate Geelong so much.

Yep, we are relying on potentially two more results if we don't win a game. If Adelaide win, all eyes on Friday night. I dont trust St Kilda to knock off Norf

20 goals in a row. At what stage do Freo jettison Lyon?

Lets put all this talk to bed and beat eagles tmrw. Another week of this and the gaga man will be comming around to take me.

Could have 4 teams applying for priority picks at this rate.

Isn't it funny how good teams come out and dismantle [censored] teams with nothing to play for at the end of the year, yet three years in a row we've blown the exact same games? Carlton in 16, Norf and Collingwood in 17, etc.

It's so [censored] maddening how all the stars align for the teams who play finals every year, but we continue to battle in the depths of misery?

and they play at Geelong next week too.

Looking at today's results, if North loose is will be very hard for us to drop out of the 8.  Port/North would have to win huge next week and loose by heaps.  Unlikely we'll be blown away in either game.

You think Lyon will be gone in two weeks.

The real question is... can Geelong kick another 10 goals in 15 minutes? #186

Woulda been nice to pip the cats at the same ground they beat another team by 130+ points.

Make that 22.

Port.... always a front runner and recruited more of them last off season. At least we crack in and win the contested ball

So if those 2 results happen can Geelong still make it??

At what stage does Ross (handed and great list at StKilda but missed a flag x 3, then handed a great list at Fremantle but missed a flag again) Lyon come under scrutiny..?

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
