What is Carey on about? Is he the worst commentator going around? What's he basing Parish becoming an AA on? Handball receives off half back?

Well with the 12 other AA’s they’re predicting there’ll be a lot of handballs to receive.

Just listening to Bruces running commentary on how the druggies may make the 8 in the final term was disgusting. They showed the best results for the druggos for the rest of the round and then even showed how close ( not really ) in percentage to the swans. Simply amazing as they have no chance. The media are an absolute joke.

It's pathetic, indicative of the gutter-level media in this country. Happy to turn a blind eye to an entire team filled with drug cheats because it's just so "romantic" to celebrate the idea of them making finals. Get me a vomit bag. The funniest part is Essendon haven't a chance in hell of making finals (which will be obvious at the end of this round), so all these brain-dead commentators morons are doing is exposing themselves for the fools they are, at the expense of appeasing one team's supporters.

In any event, let's all just remember how well finals worked out for Essendon last year, with that corrupt soft draw they were handed for artificially finishing last due to drug convictions. I note the exact same thing has happened to North Melbourne this year, although in fairness they didn't finish dead last due to WADA sanctions. They're just destined to play finals because of convenient double matches against rubbish teams (accounting for 10 of their wins).

Richardson's gone, surely...

'A F', Richo's a great assistant coach. Would love him at Melbourne.

...but the Saints have committed to him for next year.

I guess they could backflip.

They don't seem to have there act together at all.

In prematch Lethlean indicated they would like to have a Hodge/Lewis situation.

Short memory...they had one in Reiwoldt but forced him into retirement.

That was such a dumb move, they could have played Nick anywhere on the ground if they wanted to develop their forwards.

Would have been a handy winger or ever coming off half back.

These guys don't grow on trees.

St Kilda seem reactive rather than proactive. Even the move to keep Richo on has been justified using the Hardwick example.

If the don't think for themselves they will keep disappointing their fans.

Saad bump....

The ball was arguably within 5m. Didn't hit the head...should get off.

Recall Steven may's bump a few weeks back on Curnow AFTER Curnow had disposed of the ball...as I said at the time..."What really is bizarre is that Michael Christian when giving his reason said May was allowed to bump because the ball was within 5 meters. Curnow had disposed of the ball and the hit was absolutely late yet according to Christian if the bump had been lower he was well within his rights and would not have been sanctioned." Didn't agree with that then and now they couldn't possibly sanction Brown's bump on Saad unless they are being totally contradictory (which wont surprise anyone...)

The AFL have another stupid decision hanging over them because they don't use common sense....

Nope, more like clearly gone 10+ metres

Clearly late, had plenty of time to avoid contact, decided to drop shoulder and collect him

And smashed him so hard he was KO'd

This is exactly what needs to be drummed out of the game....

4 weeks min and that'd be lucky

Admittedly I haven't seen the druggos draw, and be [censored] if I'd even bother looking, but I recall back in '98 we were looking like missing and everyone was saying we couldn't make it, but with the draw we had I was tipping us to make it, and we did.

Are they really done, or is it still possible? Either way, the media know they cash in every time they talk about these cheats. That's all it's about.

You're probably right but on a tv screen, which is where the evidence is, who's to say how far 5, 10, 20 metres is? Umpires get the distances wrong many times over in every game. Short kicks, running too far etc, so who knows how far 5m is???? I'd like to see the May hit again to see how far that was, comparatively.

Regardless, the best the commentary team could come up with was 'Saad had run 4 steps' before he was hit. Pardon [censored] me? Apparently in the rules somewhere it says something about 5 metres, and commentators of all people should be up with that news, but is there something in the rules about how many steps a player takes before it's a late hit?

Amateur hour. How much do these clowns get paid?

Nor should it because it is nowhere near as bad because it was a hit within the game, just late (by only a few metres if you believe the 5m rule) for which a penalty should apply since he clearly could have avoided making contact.

Looked shoulder to shoulder and then whiplash and into the ground.  I doubt detailed vision will show head contact with shoulder but we shall see doubtless.

Of course you are right. An overreaction on my part.

How can we not barrack for Hawthorn today? We win tomorrow and it puts us 2 games in front of Geelong. Yes, they can pass us in the last 2 games, but that's presuming we don't win another game after Sydney, as well as Geelong winning by enough for their % to overtake us.

And that's just one team. We beat Sydney tomorrow, puts us 1 game in front of them. They have GWS and Hawthorn to come, so it's quite possible that they won't win another game.

North have Adelaide in Adelaide next week. I can't forthe life of me see them winning that. Again, we win tomorrow and we will be 2 games ahead of them and serious %.

Top 4 would be amazing, and to do so we need to win at least 2 of our last 3, with some other results going out way. But as Roos has continually said, we need to make finals first, then we can look at going higher.

The best part about a lot of these "8 point games" this weekend is that they are on today. Going in to tomorrow, we will know what a win will do to our finals chances. Could go very close to locking it in.

Nb. That's not forgetting that Port or Collingwood could just as easily drop out, most likely Port given the run home of both clubs.

Ideally, the Hawks smash Geelong today, making it even harder for them to make up % in the last two games.

I bet 95% of neutrals want Geelong to miss the 8.  The meltdown from Chris Scott would be hilarious, and the Dangerfield era promises to be wasted.  All the preseason hype about the holy trinity...  puke.

Suggest you go and look at the bizarre reasoning from Michael Christian on the May incident. IF the Saad hit was within 5m - and I haven't seen all the angles - it is perfectly legal.

And if outside 5m it's only a free downfield.

After Burton got off for his bump on Higgins I'm stuffed if I know what they'll do. He didn't raise his elbow so could go either way. If you pause when Saad handballs, Brown was within 5m. Fair bump, play on. Whateley and his agenda calling a "cheap shot." Gerard and his overreactions this year.....

Agree, how we stuffed that up I will never know. It's an embarrassment actually.

But assuming we win tomorrow these are the way I would like tot see the results go this weekend.

Hawks to knock of the cats. Only because it would make it harder for the cats who sit outside the 8.

If somehow brisbane could knock off the  pies that would be awesome in more way than 1.

Want Adelaide to beat the giants

Power to knock of west coast so it would set up a great game next week.

Oh and looking ahead to next week, Richmond thrash essenscum so you can end any chance they had of making finals please. I don't need to hear another week of they can still make the finals.

1) Geelong can easily catch us on percentage. A 70 point win over Freo and a 110 point win over GC will probably do it.

2) if Adelaide lose to GWS tonight, I’m worried they’ll have nothing to play for against North and subsequent lose.

Don't forget they need to talk up the Bummers because they'll be stinking it up next Friday night and the following one.

FWIW it's blowing a gale in Canberra ATM and it may or may not die down for the game tonight.  Doubt it will be a high scoring affair which brings Adelaide back into it.
