Onya Bern!

Thanks for playing for MFC. Cant have been much fun for the majority of your time with us. Love the way you put in.

If nothing else, you got your MCC membership !!!

Thanks matey.

Would be sad if Bernard has played his last game for us.

I am suprised he hasn’t been used up forward in bursts.

He is a great kick for goal

He's apparently done his shoulder in the VFL today. I'm assuming he won't go around again next year. Horrible way to end your career being dropped and then getting injured to rub salt into the wound.

I'm thankful that Bernie chose to come to us and played some really good footy in the red and blue. He's a likeable bloke and deserves success.

We named our cat Bernie and he said that there are over 100 cats named Bernie in Adelaide.  Thanks for being part of our Great club. You have won a Best and Fairest and now you play your 100th game. Hope you get to play finals. However you never know what else might be around the corner as well.

Lets hope there's not only 100 cats named Bernie, over in Adelaide... but 100 young Bernie's out and about, over Crow town,,,  and around yonder.

_ should be able to pluck one or two, from a list like that.  ☺️

No, theres not much left.

Some spud named Alex Sexton made him look silly last week and turned him inside out far too easily.

If we're to go deep in Finals, Bernie in my opinion will get found put for his pace down back. His skills have rapidly dropped down and just picks up easy touches from kicking put.

Bernie in my eyes will go down as a MFC great. Came to the club at ots lowest point and has provided leadership and lockeroom maturity.

Somehow, I just can't imagine this. I think of him as perennially immature, a Peter Pan character. Always smiling and seemingly having fun. Yet clearly understands the hard work and effort necessary to be a successful footballer.

I tried to talk my niece in naming her unborn child Bernie. She is a Dees supporter and I remember we sat down and went through the list. She picked out a few names like Jake, Oliver, Jesse and Jordan but unfortunately she had a girl.

She is pregnant again so I am sure we will go through the same process again with the footy record.

Jesse and Jordan would have still worked, for the girl child.

Lets hope to balance the books. ?

One of the very good recruits from our terrible decade. He given us way more than I thought was possible.

Thanks Bernie.

I’m gutted if this is true. One guy who deserved to at least be in the mix for this part of the journey

If this is it thank you so much Bernie we’ll never forget your time at MFC. You’re just as part of this club as some of our greats.

Bernie is a ripper.

He embraced the club when we desperately needed it - he could have played out his years here, earning good money and doing just enough.  He did the opposite and his first two years with the club were excellent.  Old father time might have caught up to him a little, but he took that in his stride and never made a fuss when he was dropped.  He just got on with business and continued to do what he could for the club.

If it's his last game then it's a damn shame, but I'll be forever thankful and respectful for his contributions to the club.

Ironic that he plays his 100th, gets dropped next week and suffers a career threatening injury. I sincerely hope he is still around the club nexxt year even if it is only at Casey.

Thank you Bernie for your service

Sad to hear for this to happen in his now dinal game, love Bernies contribution to the club.

Hows this year been his 2nd best year when hes already been dropped once, and showing signs of slowing down?

2014 to last year have been some of his most consistent years of footy he's had over his football career.

In my opinion hes probably gone a year too long, but we've gotten 100 consistent games off him and thats all we've asked.

ridiculous he was dropped to begin with, that he was playing at Casey anyway is inexcusable.

Droppubg him was the right decision.

Bernie when you first came to the us l hoped that Roos was doing  right by recruiting you to our club. You see we were going through hard and dark times and couldn't see the reason. I was so wrong as you proved to us all that not only you had the goods to play some fantastic footy which was exciting to watch but you are one of the leaders that gave the team a new lease of life and belief over the 5 years that you have been here.

We are in a better place because of it. I hope you stick around next year  because to most , you are a Demon for life.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
