What the F does Pythagoras know about football anyway?

A squared + B squred = C squared, where C squared + fairness = a 60 point win for the Dees, provided that the umpires do not interfere for the Crows' benefit at their home ground - but the temptation for them, and the AFL, is to entice as many Croweaters to the 'G as possible for the finals, and gate receipts. Good luck, MFC.

So we are ranked second best chance for the flag, yet we may not even make the finals.

Its really going to hurt if we miss again.  We could have done some damage in last years finals too.

Champion data yesterday ranked dees at 86% chance to finish in top 8. In 6th place.

I think he played half forward for Athens against Sparta ?

And he won the Plato medal for B.O.G. in that traditional rivals match - the Peleponese Cup. Sparta's loss secured them the No. 1 draft pick (they were the carlton of the Greek Football League  then). They used it to pick up a young macedonian prospect Alexander who went on to have a great career after retirement from the game.

Is that this Macedonian Marvel character?

3aw last night. Interviewed by Dwayne Russell and Richo.

They asked him who aside from Richmond is the best club in the league and he was quick to nominate Melbourne. He also then went onto nominate Collingwood (no mention of West Coast) but the fact that without hesitation he picked us was interesting.

Richmond being the best team in the comp means that they choose what richmond does best and then base the other teams of that.

Gotcha

David king and that bloke from champion data, glen Luff(???) are of the same opinion. Even when we do things like sat night, the point they make, is that we are so very close, and when finally that last piece of the puzzle falls into place , we are going to be sustainably seriously hard to beat.

who knows? But listening to their SEN podcast with what’s his name in the afternoons on SEN, on my drive home from work, has certainly helped with my MFCSS this season.

This isn't quite right.

He was asked "who has been the best team you've played" ?  He nominated Richmond first and then Melbourne.  As you say, he then included Collingwood.

He finished by saying that in his opinion those three sides best footy are probably the best in the competition.

But they're not always playing their best, are they ?

If we play out best from now and Hibberd, Viney and maybe even Hunt come in then giddy up, 2018 has some excitement left

Must have been the very early years because once they got going Sparta regularly spanked the Athenians unless the match was played at sea. The Spartans never could play in the wet!

For 3 qtrs a game, fingers, knees and toes crossed we’re far enough in front for the turgid “other” qtr.

On a serious note we’re really not far off being a very good side, just don’t think it will be this year, injuries and run home oh and Darwin.

A terrific little goal sneak too. The only player in that team who doesn't struggle kicking goals from an angle.

So many on here can't see how close we are. They are judging improvement with wins and losses alone. Yep we are in a wins and losses business but you need to look beyond that and see the changing of the guard and forget about searching for excuses such as curses, the scars of the last 53 years and whatever else occured post Jackson, Roos, Viney, Taylor and Goodwin.

How many experts were saying the 1 and 13 Lions had improved greatly and results weren't far away, just a matter of when it happens for us now. The Cats, Hawks and Saints of the mid to late norties all went through this, I just hope we end up with silverware as opposed to the Saints near misses

Yes we would be with the stats  Melbourne have accumulated over the year. However we are the best team for being mentally fragile.

Spartacus was Thracian.... a complex area in today's political system akin to drafting a full forward from New Zealand

Of course mate, but I am a skeptical one because I believe the next step in our development is playing finals. We're at that stage now and will fall behind if we don't get that experience.

Until he got injured. Then they were screwed.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
