It is what it is.  If there's no crack it should be fine with an "off legs" approach in a few weeks.

Is he doomed to a career hampered by that foot? It’s been an absolute debacle since last year. How can we not get this right?

Yeah he's obviously a good player to lose. Our injury list compared to last year is a lot better though. And compared to other top 8 teams (Richmond aside) we've had a great run with injury this season. The Pies are sitting second on the ladder with a massive injury list.

It’s disappointing. Another foot problem for the Dees another one for Viney after less than 10 weeks of games. However injuries will happen and we have the depth of talent to cover. No excuses. Move on. Kill them dogs and take us one step closer to finals.

No

It’s been going on for 2 years now. What makes you so confident this isn’t going to be an ongoing problem?

3 players. 3 of the same stress foot injuries. 1 year. Bad luck or an issue with the surface of Gosch?

Interesting choice with Hannan in front of Tyson.

My guess is that JKH will now be played in the midfield which has been his role at VFL level.

Ohh FFS....

More frustrating choice is not bringing in Dom to play that inside role.. would be fair to say his papers are fairly stamped..

Because I've researched the subject.

Unless they use Vince in the midfield to replace Viney.

His long term term future in this game is a big worry now.

News next week will tell a lot

Thats... not good.

That foot is cursed. Put him on ice and get it right. Need him for the tail end of the year.

Stuff it that sucks!  Its not so much the fact that Jack's won't play today, but the nature of the injury itself.  I wonder if it's the same foot / toe.

Media report says it's the same toe. No crack, but stress issue. Mahoney made it sound like it'll be a few weeks out and back before finals. Hopefully.

We need to a hire a podiatrist full time at the club and assess all our footwear and surfaces we train on.  Either we have players with the same genetic weakness or something is causing the stress.

In pre game warm up, Frosty has just kicked 3 torps from the goal line that landed just a few metres short of the centre square.

Not sure if this is a plan but under no pressure he is in good kicking firm today.

The G is a sight. Missing only people.

Glass half full: we have 3 fresh players in from the sauna of last week

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
