Lewis on AFL360

Video should be up tomorrow but key takes:

Team doesn’t work hard enough

Only way to silence history is to perform

Harshest critics are within the club

Rich were 8-6 last year and flogged by STK, they changed and evolved.

Need to buy in defensively

In the review they’ve seen the damning footage that would’ve been shown on On The Couch.

Game review was brutal this week

Need to prove ourselves v Freo this week

Never seen Goodwin react like he did, was angry, frustrated and brutal.

Unfortunately on that show it’s all about Jack and Richmond, however what Jordan said was good to hear, a bit of tough love by the sound of it this week

Reassuring and awesome

proof in puddimg

Good to hear....dems words

Await action

Don’t care what was said tbh. No trust at all in this group, both coaching and players

Maybe the should bring in some die hard fans and let the club/team hear us out how we feel? We generally do the right thing as members now they should follow suite

hearing the echo of rnd 23 2017 ?

At least he said something about us this week. I have given up watching because he always talks about his Hawthorn mates and we come a poor second.

Sounds like he ticked off the talking points from the media department at 100% efficiency.

Poor bloke.  Nothing he said would be good enough for most, so I'm not surprised by the reaction.  But he got asked the question and he answered it honestly.  Can't ask much more than that.

Like others, media talk is a big yawn.

Just talk only talk. Of course, Lewis has to say something and this is sending the right message to fans but I suspect most fans turned off long ago.

Actions speak louder than words and I am afraid we have heard it all before time and time again. Like a broken record.  We all hear the words and rock up to the next game to see that nothing has changed.

The only difference is that this time, Simon has been Un-Goodwin like and reacted angrily. Now it may be what we think should happen but it is not typical. So I think this is a positive thing as sometimes you need to react emotionally for players to get the message.

Have we got the cattle on the park to heed the coaches message and turn it around?

We need every individual player to lift and for some magic to happen.

Time will tell. The Dees season is at the crossroads.

Sounds pretty standard although Goodwin being really angry does suggest the players should come out breathing fire this week.

Mat the end of the day talk is cheap. His comment about Richmond is a good one. There’s still so much footy left in the season and it’s on the club to turn it around.

Just watched the post game presser. Quite interesting. He plays a pretty straight does Goody but was obviously seething.

Made it crystal clear we simply did not work hard enough. Mentioned a couple of times that a change in defensive all team pressure will be evident. Said in a way that suggests some will get a huge rocket - and perhaps that occurred in the review.

I'm tipping at least one big name to be dropped this week.  I suspect Trac will be dropped.

He rolled out the party lines!! That’s ok, what else could he say publicly?

The group and coaches have lost the trust of supporters, that’s it in a nutshell.

Supporters are powerless and have to live with whatever the players dish up.  That’s our lot and there is sweet FA we can do about it.

we are an under performing club onfield no matter who we have on our list. Shameful!

Thanks Feebs!

When the theory that Lewis and Vince cannot play in the same side was put to Jordan on 360 last week he played a fairly straight bat and then ended by saying something along the lines of 'this isn't the problem....there's other/bigger stuff going on....'.

I hope this is probed further and elaborated on by Jordan now following the weekend's performance, somehow I doubt this will be the case. 360 on Tuesdays is the Jack and Richmond show and what Jordan said was completely glossed over. So I'm awaiting the upload with interest

I don't get why people who think words are meaningless etc pay attention to the footy press during the week. I don't necessarily disagree but if you're just gonna say "actions not words" etc you may as well just shut off outside gameday other than to get injury reports

You can choose to join another club and let the MFC know via a written letter and cc the board

A lot of people complaining about talk on a talk-show...

The condemnation of the team this past week reminds me of post round 23 last year. Back then we could do nothing about it. Luckily we have almost half a year to do something about it and redeem ourselves, if we are good enough. We shall see how hurt the players really are.

I think people might be overestimating the motivating powers of ‘pain’ and ‘hurt’.

Look to Adelaide this season to see how a hurt club performs... then cast your mind back to Geelong, Hawthorn, Bulldogs and Tigers and recall that they they were motivated by positivity and unity in their successful years.

I’m not sure what was more brutal, Goodwin or Demonlands response to Lewis ?

He didn’t back down and told it how it is at least.

Seemed laissez faire about the whole thing?

What did you think?

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
