Our season is over. Can BS on here all we want, the saints are the second worst team in the league and we can’t beat them... 2018 is worse than 2017.

Something seriously wrong with our team if we can smash this rabble a few months ago and can't even beat them today. Horrible.

That late comeback only came about because St Kilda's run stopped and they went more conservative which played into our hands.

In no way did we deserve to win this game.

Get ready to hear about all the great lessons learnt this week. I think I'll spew.

Time for Jones to relinquish the captaincy, just a soldier now who can't hit targets and doesn't inspire his teammates.

Out: Joel Smith (no smarts), Tyson (the slow butcher), Petty (not at AFL standard at this stage).

Backline needs a major reshuffle. Midfield is too freakin slow, forwards are not playing for each other, Goodwin on thin ice now.

Some serious questions about this whole club yet again!  Goodwin needs a kick up the rear end.  Time for the blowtorch On big headed players who cannot cut the mustard.  Zero total commitment from this group.  They do drink their own stuff!!! Makes me sick

Gawn & Viney bleed for this club.

They do.  Viney's last term was immense, and they shouldn't have had him tag Steven at the start of the game.  The bloke is our bull at the stoppages, let him loose from the opening second.

This club kills it supporters year after year!!  Can anyone in the world save this club from itself?  We self destruct like no in history.  They make me spew.  Never ever can trust them!!!!

Lol what a club. It's a farken horror show down there. A complete disgrace of a club

Completely outplayed, and dare I say it, out-coached.  I'm completely shattered.

Incredibly frustrating seeing arguably our best midfielder reduced to a tagging role for more than half the game. Let him loose in the centre and he almost turns the game on his own.

Viney is a one-way runner and too slow when teams open us up on the MCG.

Goodwin's gameplan contradicts itself. It relies in quick sweeping attacks, that kills us on the transition, formed around a contested gameplan that dictates staunch defensive awareness and tactics.

Hay were still in the eight, some how.

Give it time especially the way we are playing.

Melb never fails to disappoint.

On a positive note we consistently disappoint.

What lessons this week Goodwin?  This is gut wrenching for us all yet again.  We learn nothing!!!

Season is done, zero chance we make it now, what an absolute slap in the face after the talk from players about missing out last year, now let’s watch the AFL Change some rules to stop congestion and us not having the players to play that sort of footy, I sometimes wonder if we are cursed

In spite of everything, lost in the back line, though that was also because of what was happening further up the field and the way the ball was coming in. We kicked 18 goals which is a winning score - but let them kick more.

Lost through some indiscipline and those handful of needless 50 metres that just handed them goals and gave them confidence.

Also inexperience (my constant theme), across much of the team but especially Petty who was clearly out of his depth unfortunately. Then throw in those handful of players we have who get the ball but have poor or unpredictable disposal, which leads to turnovers (Tyson, Harmes, ANB the main three).

No easy solutions, short of Jake Lever making a miraculous recovery, though I thought Smith played himself back into it, and Hibberd was decent. Thank god for Bailey Fritsch.

I'd be looking at Stretch (decent kick) and Vince (experience) back in.

I cant lay the blame at any one player's feet but if I did he would not be standing on them, he would be bald ,wearing number 6 ,with terrible disposal and be well past it.

When Oliver went down at the centre bounce and the umpire had his back to it, where were the other two umpires.

That was our rnd 23. Onto next year.

Worst tall defenders in the league.

terrible pressure for most of the game

Please stop talking about our i50 entries. We let a team that beat the total average game score in a half and then go onto score 120+ pts.

The blame is squarely on the defensive running of the midfield and the bog ordinary defenders in our side.

Omac lost without Lever

Petty debuts in one of our most important games of the year?

Disgusting decisions from the coaching staff with the selections this year.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
