An almost absolute majority of posters on this thread appear to be against the ?️ Darwin fixture. A brief scan reveals some fair and rationale analysis and a couple of humorous 'gems' amongst the usual backwash. Win lose or draw since the the Demons first appearance at Marrara ?️ for a pre-season game V doggies in the wet  ?️ season. Where the heat and humidity actually was a factor, way back in the dreamtime when Robbo was still taking speccies ? and a tropical ?️ cooled off proceedings. Jack Watts and Brad Miller forming a dynamic duo up forward to provide impetus for a convincing victory against port power, game one of the triplepeat. Jack Trengrove's footy smarts won the game V port for the game 2 return bout. Liam Jurrah's cameo magical Marrara goal of the decade. Neville Jetta gracing the grandstand wing pre-rookie revival, Nathan Jones's set shot goal outside fifty metre arc, leading the way  pre-captaincy, followed by Jaydyn Hunt's spectacular spiraling torp over the ginger crow ? ruckman last year. Yeah survived the karma bus episodes wandering about in the footy universe outer limits. Reality is Northern Territory $$$ have helped keep the good ship ?? afloat. Your top-end correspondent has been seriously entertained, enjoyed and at times, if necessary endured all the Mighty Demons matches here in Darwin. If the game this Saturday is to be the last... well as George Harrison crooned "All things must past".

Go !!!

Hey Tarax

My Mum and Dad are up your way for the game and a weekend of R+R. Dads actually a member here on Demonland but he is old and having password issues (he will be reading this by the way, hi Dad?). He called and asked me to ask you if there is anything happening before the game either formal or informal in the local area that fellow Demon supporters can attend?

Cheers in advance ?

My question is why didn't you run the full.

It was only a half marathon comp. I had to run back to my hotel room later on as I forgot my ID to get into the second pub, had a spew while running and later got chased by police so probably ended up running a full marathon In total. Haven’t been there for a few years now, if we play there next season I’ll try and get to it.

Coach,

Only pre-game event I'm aware of (from the club's website) is the team will be training at Marrara oval tomorrow morning at 10:30 am until 11:30 am followed by players signing autographs and doing photos with fans.

Cheers TC

That puts a full stop on our time in Darwin.

Hope you are right. Playing in 80% humidity for a one off game is ludicrous.

Didn't we hear recently that they renewed this disaster but we are trying to get it scheduled before the bye ?

... not before the bye, we want a bye after our NT game. July is my bet.

I think we need to get the AFL to consider a brand new stadium here in Melbourne.

If the AFL want to have game/games in the NT why not consider having the the teams who are not going to play finals, play each other for the NT cup? This gives the bottom sides something to play for whilst the the teams in the eight prepare for finals.

I wish that were the case but when the AFL holds you over a barrel you don't get a day in these things

Que?

The sooner this game is dumped the better. What the hell is the purpose of it? To unsettle and exhaust players and make them play in conditions which would exhaust any athlete.

I’d like the game in Darwin to continue and see how long we can extend the streak.

And aside from the physical aspects of the Darwin trip the game itself is woeful to watch.

Everyone talks about the importance of ‘brand’ and this game isn’t helping ours.

This is not about streaking....

I do enjoy a good streak. I do agree though, the game has to be dumped. Win or lose, the toll those conditions take on the players bodies would no don’t be a set back. I’d gladly pay a bit extra on my families three memberships so we can assist with scrapping it.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
