He is not in that list but I think Nathan Freeman would be worth taking a look at. He promised a lot but injury kept him from delivering at both Collingwood and Saints. He was touted as super fast in his draft year. I guess if he couldn’t get a game at the Saints that is a bad sign though.

Could go on the rookie list. Worth the risk imo.

Howe the best on the list.  With libba then townsend

Townsend doesn’t get much of the ball and likes a clanger, I’d prefer Bugg. Disco Biscuits wouldn’t fit in with our no DH policy, although he would probably be the pick of the litter if his head were right.

I'd be interested in Lamb as a small forward but it wouldn't make a lot of sense considering he is similar to Bugg and we got rid of Bugg.

I doubt we will get a delisted free agents (we need 2 if we don't upgrade) I think we will upgrade as there isn't really another reason why they haven't announced the signings of T.Smith and Keilty. I think they will wait to the end of the delisted free agents time closes.

Oh dear god please tell me you're not talking about Jed Lamb the absolute rubbish footballer from carlton? Scrawny faux tough guy syndrome is little Lamby..

Dont understand the need to not only discuss what spuds to pick up but also from clubs who are rabble like Carlton and St Kilda.

If these players struggle to get games at bottom side clubs then they have no hope getting games at ours. List bloggers at best.

We're past that stage of picking up Ben Newtons, Aidan Rileys of the world.

You know what you get with bugg, and its not good enough for afl level.

Would be happy we get howe.

The delisted free agent list is very thin this year.

Hey, MAH, I recall somewhere you mentioned that Keilty and T Smith had been re-signed for another year as Rookies.  Would like to update the 'Contracts' thread but have been unable to find anything from the club.

I noticed the AFL article showed no-one at mfc was still un-signed but do you know if Keilty/Smith contract extensions have been officially unannounced.  Thanks.

Hey LH.

Nope haven't seen anything official myself. Just heard it from them on the Casey B&F Night.

Give Jake Long a year this year and sign Ben Long next year?

Tom Sheridan - cheap depth wing option if we still aren't satisfied on outside runners?

Have often thought Jack Leslie offered a bit as a key defender, but keeping Keilty means we've got heaps of numbers there.

Dom Barry? ?

Surely Richmond will lock up Derek Eggmolesse-Smith

If anyone mentions Jed lamb again I'll put them on ignore.

Jed's dad... a young mr Lamb, just for you Diet'r

Definitely give Luke Partington’s manager a call.  Just been delisted by Eagles.  Hard to crack at behind their outside run group.

Talented youngster.  Outside runner with excellent skill.  East Perth 2018 B&F. Still only just turned 21.

Be nice if the MFC website reflected current comings and goings

Probably not good enough in the end?

Could Jake Neade be worth a look as Nev Jetta’s understudy?

We need more pace. Jake neade as a small forward for an end of the list option is worth it. He has something we don't have.

Surely have to seriously consider Jordan Murdoch. Pace and goalkicking. Very dangerous player.

He is an ok player in a good side. Geelong have slid from good to mediocre and an soft outside running player with ok. not elite skills will fall away quickly, which he did this year. Hopefully we are a good side and therefore he may be worth a depth position? Tipping he'd prefer to be on AVB side so he doesn't get crunched by him again too!

Him and Sheridan at least are mature players that have some of what we lack in outside speed and carry. Truthfully though I would prefer to draft Wagner and Hind from the VFL late.

Can we simply change Corey for Josh? think they'd find out if we crossed out Josh on the forms and wrote Corey above it in Crayon? Unbelievable that Corey Wagner got delisted by North and yet Josh seems impossible to rid from our list!

Now that Corey Maynard has been upgraded to the main list, we now have six vacancies for the draft but that number could drop if the club takes any delisted free agents or alternatively if it decides to limit the primary list to 38 or 39 (which would give scope to taking one or two more rookies).

I suspect that if we are talking to DFAs then discussions would be well advanced and that we will hear about it by the end of the coming week.

Sheridan and Townsend sound interesting.

I enjoy reading the way some on DL would take every club’s discarded players, all of them. We could have a list of 100 if some on DL were our FD.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
