Always injured....decent player when he's fit, but he only seems to be fit 50% of the time

Not fussed if he leaves at the end of the year but I still think he has a role to play in the last 6 or so weeks.

Could easily get a game over Hannan or Spargo and we're crying out for pace.

It's the one thing that sets him apart.  His field kicking is up and down (sometimes he can hit a 60 metre pass, other times miss one 20 metres away) but his tackling pressure (especially against North this year) can be good and he can provide some real pace through half forward.  The FD clearly rate him as he keeps getting chances, it's just every time he gets one he gets himself injured (shoulder last year against Adelaide, hammy this year against the Tigers).

I agree that I think he still has a role to play for the club, and I think he can give us more than Bugg IF he can keep himself fit.  If he broke down again before the end of the year then I'd give Buggy another year instead.

Kent lost me as a player last year on the back of a string of lazy performances.  For all his promise and potential weaponry, he just doesn't get enough of the ball or effect enough contests.

For a player of his speed, power and supposed physicality, he averages just 2 tackles and game and has kicked over 3 goals just once in his career (4 goals, round 3 2016).  He's recorded over 20 disposals in a match six times in his career, 5 of those times were in 2016; did very little before and very little since.

I'd like to know where the information came from that he'd like more time in the midfield. Sounds a bit like something to add to gain some traction in my opinion. I've certainly hardly ever seen him winning contested ball when he has found himself in those types of situations. But I spose he also might want to expand his game with his bigger body.

A shame if he does go because he had some genuine pace and power which apart from Trac we don't have in our forwardline at the moment. We're heading more in the Richmond direction of smaller leaner players like Hannan, Fritsch, Spargo etc.

I see him and a few of the other players at my work quite often so I'll ask him haha.

I guess it wouldn't surprise to know that 2016 was his last OOC year. 

I have little confidence that he will do the hard work consistently.  Seems to like flashy, cameos too much.

I'm keen on putting together a package of trades (players and picks) to get us up the draft order. I was a Kent fan from his debut up until 2016. Last year was shocking. 

But in a very small sample size his 2018 games looked vastly improved.

- Nailed his shots on goal
- kept his feet
- laid some tackles
- held his marks

As for the rest of our small/medium smalls: I love Spargo but he is just a kid. I'm still very sceptical on ANB who works super hard but makes terrible decisions under pressure and isn't quick enough to get out of trouble or to run down good defenders. Garlett is pretty well done unless he proves otherwise. Hannan is just floating through games and isn't a proven tackler either. Bugg has the right work rate but his skills are just too far below the standard. Vanders is a hope that he can get back. Balic is yet to prove anything.

Pretty much what I'm saying is I have little faith in any of our small forwards and I really could see Kent coming back in and making the team better and I'd like to see him rotated up to the wing for short bursts as well. 

I wouldn't bet on it happening or working, but there's a lot of people putting faith in some players who haven't done anything really. If Kent does come back in and isn't picked then yeah both he and club would be better off parting ways. But there's still a lot of time left in the year.

If Kent gets himself right soon enough and maybe after the break  he has the potential to break a game open.  Shows that he can kick multiple goals and gathers possessions consistently when he is on. A nuggety player however,  he is injury prone. I hope he stays as he still has time on his side. He could be the X factor.

LH - you've just effectively called Kent a DH. You don't need to share why, but do have any solid grounds to make such an assertion? Or are the drinking suspension from last year and his general mien the primary things you're referring to?

I wouldn’t bother. I think we’re past the point where we retain decent but undependable players just in case they come good. That’s definitely where I’d put Kent. Seems 1/3 in form, 1/3 out of form and 1/3 injured. 

At this stage I’d say he’s most welcome to explore other opportunities.

To my mind, failing the NDH test means someone does DH type things from time to time but it doesn't mean they are a DH as a person so no I didn't call him such.

The last sentence of your post suggests he doesn't fit Goodwin's mantra of players having the right behaviours.

Interesting posts RE: Kent. In form and fit he is still a very useful player.

It all depends on if the club thinks he can stay on the paddock. He might be able to move into the middle, he has some pace and mongrel about him. He is a long way down the pecking order, but I would like to see him get a run in the middle before deciding his fate.

Does anyone have information as to how many times and how many weeks has he missed through hamstring injuries?  Are they the same side?   (I know he also missed with a shoulder, but have there been other injuries too?)

At his best he is a valuable contributor, but I find it hard to think of him as a reliable half forward, and he seems miles away from becoming a midfielder.
