  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I actually think CHB is Weids calling, looked comfortable down there last game he played if my memory is correct, took some nice marks.

Was relieving Max in the ruck, hence being in the backline for a while. Also took a good contested mark on the wing. Don't think we'll be playing him there though

On the contrary, I think it's terrific.  We have a bloke who loves the club and understands the situation he is in.  It sounds like he is enjoying his footy, is ready to contribute when needed and is going places off the field as well.  Can't ask for much more than that!

I wish he had 100 games up with us.

Fantastic stuff.  Great culture being developed.

So, if Tim doesn’t make it it would seem a comp between Peds and Weed, though the more I think about it could Weeds go to “CHB” as much as such position exists today?

The more I think about it, I reckon tMc plays back as the intercept, either starting from the wing & playing back, or from CHB.

So i think the tall forwards will be Hogan, Pedo, and Weide,  if TSmith is out injured.

Add, Garlett to the interchange.

No chance tmac goes back unless we are really under siege, he has to stay forward, no backline in the league can go with hogan and tmac

I don't think so.  Our strength since we settled has started from our backline, and its important that this area of our lineup remains steadfast.  So we can remain offensive.

If we have to start chasing tails, our attack will suffer.

Pedo has been in strong form for weeks...  Frost has not.   Weide only to replace TSmith?

Won't happen. Tom butchers the ball down back and besides from that he doesn't play the with the same confidence in attacking the ball and reading the play. He had a defensive contest in the 2nd quarter on the weekend and ended up under the ball.

You're right that our backline remains strong. But it's the forward and midfield pressure and work rate allows the backline to dominate which then drives the side. There's no point weakening 2 positions to strengthen one.

Pedersen also said about Goodwin

  • He doesn’t have an office and sits in an area with the other coaches making it easy to have ‘chance encounters’. “Goodwin doesn’t hide away in an office”. You can have a joke with him.

I think that this being the case is a bloody good reflection on the entire organization.

Often open door policies can be invitations for the most manipulative in an organization to get in the ear of the boss regardless of the quality of their plans or how self serving they are. Just look at the first bit of the Trump administration before General Kelly arrived (though it sounds like the Donald has circumvented the gatekeeper role somewhat since). It has been shown it's an approach where psychopaths can thrive.

The fact that the club is going as well as it is and, from outward appearances, the above situation hasn't come to be, shows that Goody had sufficient faith that he is surrounded by people he trusts won't do that.

Then again Woosha had that streamlined approach I mentioned before with Neeld as his so called chief of staff and it was bollocks. So what do I know?

Moving TMac to defense is “in case of 186 emergency” only move

Did anyone see him take a mark across halfback on Saturday and try the hollywood pass into the corridor (sorry you're not Melksham, Tmac) only to turn it over to the dogs in a dangerous position?

I thought I was having a flashback from the Neeld days.

100% correct.

It seems to be that it is only this season that this fact is being understood by the footy media and some footy fans.

Careful - you might open a doorway to demonland's dark web - the general discussion board - and let the RWNJs in.

I didn't see Tim Smith on the track. Joel  Smith was on the light duties.

Cam Pederson continued with his usual run today

Just work it hard, Cam. Some of us reckon you are going to be the Man.

I made a very special effort not to mention policy @binman

Merely talking about office politics here and how offices are ran.

Trump himself was amazed how much more work he could get done when General Kelly moved in (who himself is deeply conservative) and banned people like Omarosa from just waltzing into his office whenever she felt like.

Did Brayshaw train?

T Smith could be an out, he had a limp up from the second qtr.

The midfield trained with some privacy on the opposite side of Gosch's padock. Brayshaw was with them.

That's really private. Would have meant they couldn't be spied on like Maxy spied on the Pies. Not.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
