Good post. I reckon Frost is very underrated amongst Melbourne fans.

A bloke with those stats and his physical attributes demands a spot in our side, especially when our preferred like-for-like option may be out for an extended length of time.

He's a good VFL level player...

You don't rate him obviously. Hence his status as being underrated.

No, I would say I rate him pretty accurately.

Not underrated at all.

Hope Lyndon Dunn is fit, he will need to be this week hogan and McDonald should run him to death, McDonald should be happy if Howe doesn’t play won’t have to worry about him sitting on his head

I will wait until after Casey plays before looking at my changes but Lever a out with Tim Smith and Melksham doubts over them plus to me Spargo may need a rest. Therefore plenty of opportunities for the boys in the Magoos to step up and see who wants to play next Monday.

why would spargo need a rest? he's got 9 days to recover for qb then he's got the bye for a 2 week rest

I've now seen Smith playe the last 3 games and while he makes useful contributions, I can't help but believe Pedersen is a much better bet, a much better all round player.

And in the end, I'd take Garlett into a final before I'd take Baker. Garlett's poor games were earlier in the season, before Mcdonald, before Viney, when there were simply too many blind bombing runs. Baker will be very good and what he does is very good: I just don't  think he does them often enough yet.

He looked tired yesterday. Depends on whether anyone in similar position fires up today. Also if Melksham is out he Spargo stays in

Anyone would be when they win the ball at half back, pass it off to the wing and then sprint 60-70 metres to become the next link in the chain. Spargo has one more in him before the bye.

I thought Spargo was excellent, didn’t have a lot of it but was always harassing he plays his role beautifully, can’t see him being dropped, sure Garlett tackles and kicks goals but Spargo has something Garlett doesn’t, hardness for the contest

not sure how you can tell someone looked tired. if the coach thinks his form has dropped off then it's a form issue

fwd pocket is a tough spot, few opportunities, and typically you see variable performance week to week even from the best fwd pockets. i don't think his form has been bad enough to drop him unless jeffy puts in a blinder

9 days rest (after a 6 day spell from a long trip in the heat) should be just the tonic

Depends on Collingwood's structure.

Oscar is the logical match up for Mason Cox at FB. Jetta to DeGoey. Lewis, Salem on the flanks.

Frost seems unlikely. Could be an option for Stephenson if they are worried about his pace. Could play CHB but it isn't his strength.

Joel Smith makes sense to play CHB on a tall if the Pies play another one.

Hunt if they want to play another runner and use Hibberd/Vince as the talls.

Harry Petty is the smokey if they want height and want to give him a run at CHB.

I think Hibbo will take De Goey - De Goey is 191 cm, and is too tall for Jetta.

So the match ups will likely be:

Omac - Cox

Hibbo - De Goey

Vince - Mayne

Salem - Thomas

Not sure who comes in for Lever - But i'll be betting on Frost given he's quick (so can match up on someone like Hoskin-Elliot) but also tall so he can match up on Cox if he gets a hold of Omac.

SPARGO DOESN'T NEED A REST FFS!

Lol, here’s “Spargo needs a rest” again. He has played 7 AFL games, playing essentially as a forward pocket. This isn’t first year, didn’t know about professionalism Clarry we are talking about. There is no way known he’ll be rested. Is it so difficult to imagine that a first year player could play out half a season?

Sounds like Frost was the best of the talls at Casey, but that just fills me “meh”. Think I’d prefer to see Keilty get a crack of Joel Smith is no good.

Stand by my previous selection of Garlett if Melksham is injured, and Weideman if Tim Smith is injured, but no unforced changes.

Tell his mum that he has to have early nights

Hey Nasher, why do you think Weid over Pedo?

I heard Jake say on radio today he will be fine. I take his word. I guess it's whoever the coach decides will replace Lever as the only change I see.

I better not hear from any melbourne or collingwood player that this is our grand final. At least with watts at port we don't have to hear the watts timeline again.

I think this weeks talk will all be about this game and what we can do. Last years qb  we managed to beat them so heres hoping we do it again but by more this time.

If round 23 burns like the players said it did then we should really show up for this one and [censored] crush the pies out of the top 8 and decimate their percentage.

Has a specific injury to Tim Smith been confirmed?

WTF is all this cr@p about Spartacus needing a rest?  He is doing fine, we have a long break then a bye.

Possibly because Ped seems have been concussed rather badly today.

Long range forecast is 15 deg with a few clouds. Should be a perfect June day for footy.

Collingwood punished Fremantle’s turnovers today. In: whoever is less likely to turn over the ball.

Edited by Ethan Tremblay

I think they’ll bring in Garlett for another avenue to goal and perhaps Gawn, Harmes and Fritsch will float back to intercept. Tough one

Since when does the Coach decide the team and not DL?

Don’t worry about that this is Collingwoods GF.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
