One of the best games I’ve seen Lewis play in the red and blue

He was great last week too.

61 i50s to 33

We should be aiming for a 150 point score but our skills won’t allow that.

What odds Harmes for Brownlow?

Harmes, ANB and Tyson are the only players holding our team back.

If we can find a good replacement for them then we are looking very good.

I have only seen bits and pieces but ANB and Harmes are going hard at it and doing their bit.  Tyson does some good stuff and some awful stuff

Would like to see us put the foot on the throat here

1001.00

Boy can we make it any harder for ourselves?

What was that hanball from max in the last 30 secs?

We are a strange bunch.

How many times this year has Harmes been penaliseud for holding the ball. We  seem incapable. Of burying sides.

Anything less than a 6 goal win would be unacceptable.  Bury them Melbourne.  We are dominating.  Big last quarter.

Happy with a win but we really should be pushing for a 50+ point final margin.

Ah... bit like the game before the contract signing game but this is the game before Viney returns game

Geez so inaccurate. We are bossing them in every aspect of the game. It’s just frustrating we deserve more.

GC leading in one stat....... Frees!!!!!!!

FND and I both think the umpires have been ordinary tonight ......and we are probably right !!!!

11 tackles for Clarry! ?

From the AFL site:

"Melbourne has stretched the lead to 32 points at the final change after a tighter quarter. The Demons have entered forward 50 on 63 occasions, already above their season full game average (57.7) and the most by any team to three-quarter time this year. "

One day this team will click ... hopefully I am alive to see it

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
