Now that the heat has gone out of the Brayshaw incident... - it’d be remiss if we didn’t enquire about him. One punch does not make a boxer/ one swallow does not make a summer...

Troll

Demonland is frequently subject to trolling. It's most unpleasant. On this occasion though, I thought it was witty.

Slightly off topic, but am I the only one who had no idea Hamish Brayshaw was on West Coast’s list until all this unfolded? ?

Over-age player in the TAC Cup, has injuries, hasn’t got the same exposed form but has promise, was a late pick last year when his brother went at pick 2, so was overshadowed fairly significantly.

I think myself and most dees supporters only paid attention because he was a Brayshaw.

So if I'm hearing it right, which still may be wrong:

WCE have offered 6 x $850,000

NORTH 7 x $1,000,000

MELB........ ?

I don't think we can compete with those numbers, I'd rather Whitfield ot Josh Kelly and put that money towards them.

Unconfirmed....

From a WCE source, if Gaff doesn't re-sign with the Eagles, they're expecting him to sign with the Dees.

This naiive sort of appraisal is what sees a club walk away with empty hands, and contend for nothing.

We won’t sign Gaff by winning a bidding war; there is more to the equation the just $$$

And it’s all relative; Gaff would rather earn a massive amount of cash in the right situation, than a relatively slightly more massive amount of cash at a club where it’s an uneasy fit. Culture is everything, and we have it.

Whitfield or Kelly would be just as great, but are they even available? Are they likely to jump ship on GWS? Would they cost the same $$$ and tradable assets?

Gaff is the FA looking to come back to Victoria. Don’t be distracted by longshot potential scenarios for other similar players.

We don’t need to compete with anyone other than WCE though do we. North can GAGF.

And anyway, when has an RFA been held to stay at a club they are wanting to leave? It’d be farcical for Gaff or anyone else to sign a one year deal to see him out to unrestricted FA status you’d think.

Players generally get to the club of their choice nowadays so if Gaff wants to be at the MFC next year a deal will be worked out.

$1.9 million on offer from North...okay one more year to earn it. Hard to ignore. Remember it's guaranteed irrespective of form and injury.

The unknown is the next TV deal. The last two have delivered big pay rises all round. Hard to crystal ball the next one except that the internet rights may go for a lot more if Foxtel blinks.

Simmo was interviewed last night and said he'd had no contact with Gaff since immediately after the tribunal. He went on to say that he's looking forward to Gaff returning to West Coast to assist with coaching for the remainder of their campaign. I think Gaff being part of the coaching team will be a pretty uncomfortable proposition rather than just getting around his WCE teammates as they play finals.

And Tom Morris is a flop of a journo. Says lots of words that mean nothing - just like this article.

No contact between the senior coach and a star player, while the star player is in crisis, and you're planning to include the player in coaching duties...

Either it is just not the truth (a West Coast coach lying? Shock!) or Gaff is surely gone.

Not a bad point but a bit of breathing space would come in handy too.

Fixed

Robbo thinks it is WC or North. (I have heard it is WC or Melbourne.)

"All-Australian Gaff clearly is in demand.

The Kangaroos believe it’s between them and West Coast and while St Kilda is making noises about wanting to talk to Gaff — and any player who has a pulse, for that matter — they accept he isn’t going to call Moorabbin home."

No fugazi is good news for us. We hold our cards close to our chest these days. Why would Gaff want to go to those desperados north? If he wants to play in an average team in front of 20k people every week good luck to the lad.
