As a restricted free agent Gaff will probably come at a high price simply because the likes of North Melbourne and St Kilda will bid up his dollar price. (Correct me if I'm wrong but I assume Eagles only have to match the price of the club he wants to go to. In other words if there are three clubs bidding for him and he picks the lowest offer it is that offer that the Eagles must match.)

player choses club. methos just have to match that club's offer

all other offers become irrelevant

Yes yes yes. Gaff would be another star and make our midfield completely awesome.

I think we would have to consider the retirement of Vince to fit him in.

When we win the flag this year, I think Vince and Lewis may bow out.

That'll free up some cap space...

Our midfield is probably already the best in the comp and thats with all the elite young talent yet to play anywhere near 100 games of footy.  The improvement to come will be scary.

If you add in Gaff to that....   whats the level above scary?

This is true but there wouldn't be much difference higher or lower than the top failed billed (if the failed bid for him is the highest offer).

The way North sees it, it is slowly but surely pricing competitors out of the market over a few years, and they will eventually land a big fish. If they play finals this year (and they will), that only helps their chances.

I'd focus on re-signing Brayshaw and T Mac first. Then Gaff comes after that.

well given gaff won't make a decision before october (unless to weagles) then that is pretty well axiomatic

He will play for whoever he chooses, as all offers will be good monetarily, and it all boils down to what other factors are important to him. If money is everything, you will see him at either North or Stkilda. If its finals action, welcome to the MFC A.Gaff. That is all assuming he wants out of W.A. ofc.

The Eagles will only match his offer if it doesn't qualify for a round 1 compo pick, which it certainly should, based on his current value.

If he hasnt signed before the finals he is gone.

MFC will be up to their eyeballs in this.

I very much hope we land him as he would slot in perfectly.

I have no inside info, simply a feeling that he's already verbally committed to us, ala Lever.

I expect a Demonland "insider" will take a similar guess sooner or later too.

I hope we don’t get him. I’m scared of the blow back from Shannon Hurn and the rest of the Eagles players. They’ll be so mad.

Maybe they’ll bully him when we play them like Adelaide did with Lever.

You left out the one who knows the inner workings of the club better than anyone and whos sources are as good as it gets.  Hes the only one who knows if Gaff is coming or not... and not even Gaff himself knows.

Paging him now  @Satyriconhome

Don't give up your day job, I did speak to Jason Taylor today but it was about Austin Bradke

On Gaff, we don't seem to have issues with outside run at the moment, but this is first season Gaff has consistently played inside as well, out of necessity

We would be silly not to enquire, I just don't want us in a bidding war

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
