Someone would have had to have leaked it

media would contact hospitals media manager

media manager asks patient if they consent to some information (ie they were admitted )

if no consent media manager says not much at all, certainly does not confirm

if yes, some info confirmed

depends on pt consent

it would be very serious if a hospital staff member leaked it and punishable by hospital

of course someone else in the know might have leaked it

CH7 picked it up on tuesdays night coverage. They showed it tonight on the news. Stevo or Tommy Browne probably made a call. I guess maybe it got worse. But gee its not great timing.

If it was treated... fine ... say so... otherwise the football public and the media is  just left looking at another unprofessional example of a struggling football club.

Standard GP treatment for a dog bite asap after a bite

-dress the wound

-antibiotic injection

-often a splint

-no exercise for one week

Unless properly treated the infection can infect the finger bone. Worse case scenario tge finger requires amputation. So potentially serious.  There is no way he should have played against Richmond.

The player should have seen a GP or club doctor. If the club doc was consulted and did nothing, it would be a very basic omission that would be hard to explain.

Never forget that a Saints  MO sutured a contaminated wound on some player’s leg and he was out for an extended period.

How about awaiting the facts (should they ever come out) before condemning either the club or the player.

(Even with optimal treatment sometimes things don’t turn out well)

So why does he need surgery and why won't antibiotics be enough?

An infected finger can get pretty big pretty fast, and be extremely painful. Because of bloodflow issues, if untreated can lead to the risk of having the finger amputated.

The docs cut it open, let the pus out, stitch it up, THEN give antibiotics.

Routine these days, once upon a time a very serious ailment which could lead to septicaemia or gangrene. Life threatening.

Let the threatened lives be those of St Kilda droogs who get between him and the ball.

Is it not possible for us to just be able to say “s*** happens” and not get outraged or feel the need to blame someone?

Spot on Nasher. After I’d given up on blaming the umpires on Tuesday night for some howler decisions, and totally lost my voice, I just thought to myself “[censored] happens” for the rest of the night.

Correct. So once they know (which would be prior to the surgery) get on the front foot. It's 100% in the clubs control. They are just very very poor at managing it.

Yet another communication fail. really they have to fix their external communications.

Not condemning anyone. The fact is that it is a serious injury that has required hospitalisation because it was not treated immediately.

The dog will gain super-pupper strengths after biting Trac.

if the dog was radioactive, then we will have a superhero on our hands.

otherwise, I hope he gets well soon.

Brings back memories. I copped an infection after a shoulder operation. Couldn't get rid of it after a lengthy course of strong antibiotics. Ended up back in hospital on a drip for 5 days. Then had to carry around a portable drip (which I was attached to) for 2 weeks.

As for Trac, 4 - 6 weeks ... obviously.

It's a bummer, but his influence has waned. His first 3 weeks were very good, but his last couple not as much. Have a week off, freshen up, and come back fit and firing off a longer break.

In his defense, the entire team's influence has waned.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
