Jordan on the track with hand heavily bandage, looked to be acting as assistant coach. Sam Frost in the rehab group. Neville Jetta tested and seemed to have passed fitness. Tom Mcdonald expects to be training with the main group next week.

Plenty of tackling practice, disposal and being very aggressive when under pressure was empathised . Demands by the coaching staff to run hard when ball turns over during 7 on 7 game stimulations. Plenty of running for the group that played against Hawthorn.  Lots of marking drills for our talls. Jesse Hogan, Nathen Jones, Max Gawn all look ready to win against Richmond. Brendan McCartney very optimistic about knocking off Richmond.

A hard at it training session for the players.

Some good insights and a very nice first contribution.  Thank you.

Apparently Tom told Sam McLure he was almost ready for Richmond game and should be right to go for Essendon.

Yeah TMac was at the Casey game last Saturday and I overheared him say to some supporters that he thinks he should be back after the Richmond game.

Hunt also didn't do the full session and was practicing torps from about 60 out and also long drop punts to the boundary from defence.  Didn't look in any discomfort either and was kicking the ball a mile.

Am I the only one that thinks its baffling that Hunt can roost the ball a mile and yet Hogan (a power FF) can't seem to kick past 45 meters?

Surely that's something the coaches need to work on with him. I used to love seeing Neitz mark the ball from 48m out and be confident he'll not only clear the distance but at least be close to the big sticks.

Those were the days, when the big fella was on he was unstoppable. Not a bad key defender in his early years either and a top bloke to go with it.

I have a bad feeling that Viney;s injury will continue to blow out from 4-6 to 12-14 weeks

He was just on AFL tonight - they put it to him that he was another 5-6 weeks away, he said he was hoping to shave a couple of weeks off that.  Said he was at a similar stage to TMac in terms of  the injury but because he hadn't had a pre-season he also needed to do a block of training.  I reckon it's at least 5 weeks before he plays.

If we can remind Umpires: Nos 2... onwards, that it's called "UNFAIR HIGH FEND OFF" (quote AFL Umpires), we shouldn't have any problems at all.....hmmm

From Richmond board -

SEN saying Shaun Hampson will be in for Jack Graham to give Nank a hand with ruck duties

Good news for us if true as Hampson is a spud.

Best we play a proper back up ruck then ..

Read in the AFL injury update that McDonald have overtaken Viney and is now in the 2-3 category with Jack in the 3-4.  Very encouraging for TMac, and fingers crossed for Viney.

Josh Mahoney said tonight to KB, Doc and Dermie on SEN that TMac would be playing next weekend - " AFL or VFL".

In line with Mahoney's comment on SEN today.  he also said Viney was only " a couple of weeks behind T Mac"

Just reporting what he said.

Are you suggesting that Lever May be asked to play an accountable defensive rôle? That would be interesting.

Do you have any inside knowledge or is it the understandable pessimism resultant upon years of following MFC?

I think Viney needs to be managed to the point where he isn't making the decisions. He must feel like a caged animal right now but fact is his overeagerness and our clubs desperation to try to make finals made his injury so much worse than it should've been.

I personally don't think we should aim for him to be back until after the bye and give him plenty of time to tick all the boxes.

TMac I'm in a similar camp to but he did a fair bulk of pre-season training so again we should make sure he ticks all the right boxes before he comes in. We should not be trying to get him up for Essendon we should be waiting for whatever games comes up for him to be in the best possible condition.

He was a great forward, for a very long time. He was a better CHB but needed for goal production.

They know that tap ruckman are not that important, they won a flag without a Gawn.

Just look at last weekend in spite of getting the vast majority of the tap outs we got done by 10 goals.

What you need a two players who are competitive and a good midfield, dominant tap ruckman who do little else belong in a by gone age.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
