Would be surprised if Gus is given a run with role on Mitchell, I think he would do well.

Hey Jib, do you know if his brothers have had "run with"ย roles this year, or are just free to go?

I reckon theyโ€™ll go for Stretch to replace Tyson on the wing and Brayshaw if Salem canโ€™t come up (the sooty oystercatcher says he is okay after the concussion issue against Geelong but he has joined the Viney TMac duo with a hotspot on his foot).

Is that good mail?

If it is,ย  Salem should be Off legs immediately and should not play.ย ย  We just can't risk another of our top talents being out for months by playing them when we shouldn't.ย  Refer Trengove, Viney and McDonald!

It would be a cruel twist of fate if Salem is grounded just as he was finding really good form.ย  But better out for a few games now than risk more injury and having him out for months.

Pedersen polled 3 votes against St Kildaย in roundย 21 and 1 voteย vs Brisbane in round 22 last year.

The only Brownlow votes in his 78 game career.

Weed in for Tyson .ย

Play Weed as a second ruck .

Rest Maxyย foward a bit more .

Melkshem has been great but is on a roll with points . Probably has kicked 6or 7 straight last two games . Does he go back and find some confidence at vfl level . Bring in Hunt as a foward ramp up the pressure .ย

Good to see Angus back in . Tough cookie.ย

as most of us thought..... would have been interesting if Tyson had not been ill

If tyson is over his illness in time for next game the selectionย will say a bit about whether or not tyson is seen as best 22 (for example if it was oliver rhete would be no question of him coming straight back in, regardless of the form of his replacement)

Melksham, Harmes, ANB... There's a few skirting around the edges if Gus puts together a good game and remains in the team.

So thats Viney, Tmac and Tyson missing. We had those 3 I would back us. To win without will be good effort.

Agreed. I think we need to give Pedo credit where itโ€™s due. He was very good for us last year in very bad injury circumstances where we lost not 1 but 2 rucks. He is much better around the ground than as a stay at home forward where he is not tall enough or agile enough to really hurt you. He is pretty good overhead.ย

With Gawn absolutely dominating, there is simply no need for Pedo, and while TMac is injured I would like Weids to be given a run of 3-4 games and see where heโ€™s at. Itโ€™ll give us another target that will allow Hogan to play more midfield minutes, and it will give him a taste of AFL level again. Plus he can pinch hit in the ruck, a much better option than Harmes!ย

Fair point but I hope we dont miss Pedos height. Bugg jumps high but doesnt clunk them. With Hogan all over the ground...i would like Pedo up frwd.

Plus he played so well in the magoos.

Hunt is lucky.

Hawks look very week in backline and midfield apart from Mitchell, the forward line has the potential to get a hold of us if they get enough ball in there still some quality for them forward of centreย

Roughieโ€™s the only player that really scares me in the hawthorn line-up. ย Granted heโ€™s no longer the player he was, but he has the attributes to trouble our defenders and doesnโ€™t need a lot of opportunities to do some real damage.

Hawks lineup looks very weak on paper...ย  now granted that means little, but we should get the job done if we are serious.

Free to go as far as I know. I think for Gus' first game of the year it might suite him.

How many of the emergencies are kept fresh for Sunday and will not play on Saturday night?

thanks

I think they can hold them all out if needed, depends on how many are a little borderline. The other week we held 3 out of I recall.ย

I really hope we win this one as I looked at the Hawksย draw in the Age today and they are not likely to drop a game after us till round 15! They play the lowly sides at theย MCG and interstatersย down atย Launceston and the occasional game at Etihad. Looks like a dream draw from rounds 5 to 15.

We haven't traded with Hawthorn much, Lewis is the first player to play for Hawthorn and then Melbourne.

The pick we got for Cheney we used on Tom McDonald, handy upgrade.

Was a shame Ryan Ferguson and Brad Sewell weren't traded............

As Indiana Jones said when peering into the well of soulsย

"I've got a BAD feeling about this"!

I don't like it at allย  Ifย  we lose this, Ill hark back to the "Lost at Selection" argument!

Perfect chance to stretch the Hawks backline by playing Weeds which then would have resulted in Gunston having to play Back! Win Win

You watch this spectacularly misfire. ANB lucky and Harmes EVEN MORE SO !

Selectors again playing safe, The time to play safe is when you are 100 pts up in a Grand Final with minutes to play , and even then its risky!

You moan about selection every week. In fact moaning is about all you do.ย

Then we donโ€™t hear [censored] from you when we win and the selections were fine. Until the next lot of selections, rinse and repeat.ย

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
