Missing TMac up forward and having Hogan playing high, didn't help our forward 50 entries, especially when we weren't winning clearances in the third so had to rush the entries. 

My biggest disappointment of the night is Hunt. We have to work out how to play him to best expose his speed. I know he is getting heavily tagged now, but we need to get 15 touches a game from him, or else his position is not warranted in the starting 22. 

I agree that Jones didn't appear to spend much true midfield time last night and at times without the likes of a Viney, Oliver or perhaps Harmes/ANB in there I think that’s when our midfield contested work dropped off.  I don't think it's total coincidence that our game picked up in the third and forth quarters after Jack Stevens went off injured.  I'd like to think that in a crunch home and away game and we are loosing the midfield battle that Jones gets injected back in there.  My assumption is that being just JLT, Goodwin wanted to persist with and give others exposure to the guts.  Asides from that, it's probably better that the Saints pushed us and gave a warning against complacentcy to the team rather than going in overconfident and cocky against the Cats.

Agree Re Frost too, though I think his game got better the more the night wore on.  I really like some of his sideways diving spoils too - a bit reminiscent of the late Sean Wight.

still think we get ahead of ourselves. not sure why given we haven't achieved anything with this team yet.

Clarry looked massive last night really tall, he got reemed by the umps though and doesn’t get frees when he is getting tagged but still was close to bog, I thought petracca was just brilliant last night his vision and execution in tight by foot is unbelievable, I remember the commentators jokeing in 1st quarter when he kicked inside to melksham saying he didn’t mean to do it, oh I think he absolutely meant it he will break out this year nothing surer, and my tip for the best and fairest

Would still really like to see him really stamp his authority as a Carey like focal point taking big strong grabs at true CHF.  Perhaps the modern game style will not permit that kind of ball movement, although I note that we are pretty good at moving it cleanlu through the corridor at times.

Both were phenomenal. Petracca is looking to be our best. Oliver's new workload suits him just fine - watch out, Collingwood!

I do rate him and I wonder whether he and OMac can play in the same team now with Lever. Given that Frost only came on when OMac went down, despite St Kilda's bigger forward setup with McCartin, Bruce and Membrey, leads me to believe that that is not in the coaches plans. 

Rebound is his strength. Timing is his weakness. Needs more game-time.

I've just seen Jay Clark's story in the Herald Sun. Usual fluffy stuff, but one thing he wrote stood out. He claimed Petracca played at CHF. Is this true?

He spent a little time there, although we rotated players through positions quite heavily, especially through the third term.

He got a look in there without T Mac playing and when Pedersen went into the ruck.  Having said that, he did take a ripper mark over Carlisle at one stage, so he could easily play there if required.

Have to agree, far too many people talking us up, I don't like it.

Also still think that fall away in the 3rd should have been nipped in the bud.

We have a long history of falling away and letting crap teams back into the contest after a good start, I would have preferred a couple of our leaders bring it upon themselves to arrest back the momentum.

He got better in the second half, but for the most part he didn't have the same impact he normally does.  Not as much dash and run from half back, but perhaps they gave him a different role last night... ?  His disposals didn't really tell the whole story.

it was his lack of run that was the problem. Just didn't seem to ever be in a good position for him to get a clear path.

I don't understand why people are so hard on Dom Tyson.

Coming off an injury, he played under 70% game time and still accumulated a raft of possies, kicked a goal and laid 8 tackles.  I know his kicking can be a little suspect, but he was crucial for us last night, especially in the first half.

If you don't think he's in our best 22 then you've got rocks in your head.

Spot on.  Plus I think we continued to experiment in other areas during the game as well.  

If we had played with our proper gameplan and our best side for 95% of the game, as you normally would, then the comeback from St. Kilda would never have happened.

St Kilda lifted a bit as well, started to lower their eyes coming into forward 50 but having Maynard & Hannan in the middle for large stretches didn't help us.

Bugg in Stretch out but otherwise probably spot on. Although I could see Pedersen getting a run at the expense of Frost.
