Woulda got good price 2 years ago on Footscray/Richmond double.

With the stage our list is at, if we do have the luck with your 5 we are in contention. Tigers and Bulldogs aren't that much better than we are.

Look gents, not trying to draw any attention at all to myself just trying to present what I believe to be a realistic ladder appraisal for 2018.

Only Demon Andrew and another I think saw fit to present an alternative!

I am as passionate as the next Demonlander but , I am heavily Scared and Scarred of another false dawn built around the coulda, woulda, shoulda, actualization of the club!

Happy for other posters to post an alternate ladder!

Cheers

No mate you always try and fly under the radar, keeping your thoughts pretty level headed and delivered in a understated and  succinct way.

The OP doesn’t call for submissions- anyone posting their own ladder on the Fenceology thread would be deleted for not staying on topic.  This thread is all about you!

At the risk of getting my post deleted....

I think we will win it this year 'fence' but if we don't I still think I will be closer to the mark than you.

We once again will lose crunch games against inferior opposition and miss out.

Ouija Board says no!  But it has Pt Adelaide as 5th yet couldn't beat ANYONE last season and embarrassed themselves in the only final.

Seriously?

Sadly, I think you could be right. Losing games to crap sides has slaughtered Melbourne for years. The two worst examples being Carlton in 2006 and North in 2017.

Obviously last year is fresh in our memories after losing both games to North, who only won 6 games, and missing the finals by rock all. 2006 was even worse, when we lost both games to Carlton, who only won 4 games, and missed the top 4.

Unless we smarten up and learn how to combat zone footy, I can see us losing to Carlton, who play a super defensive zone, and North again.

How do we combat zone footy? Have Hogan/TMAC/Gawn this year making more of an impact with the pack/leading mark on the wing?

That is what Goodwin is paid for... no finals = new coach

There is no question he has the cattle and this year there are no excuses.

Im worried about Essenscum.

If they finish below us we will be in the top 4

I also rate their list. Their midfield might not be as deep as ours, but it is chock full of elite talent. Reckon Daniher will win the Coleman in 2018 too.

i really didn't think we were going to get there; after that run of losses following the amazing run of easybeat wins, i said if we didn't win all three against the aints, shockers, and footscray, that we wouldn't make it

we are, however, the road warriors :)

now we just need to learn to win at home!

Proof positive that 'predictions' are an absolute waste of time.  Often they make you look like tool.  These two posts are above are exhibits A and B.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
