Dangerfield and Hawkins decide it I reckon. Keep Dangerfield to no/1 goal and 25 touches and Hawkins 3 or below and we win.

I'm still coming to terms with Richmond winning the flag last season as is most of the competition. Anything is possible for a number of clubs in 2018, a lot of it comes down to mindset and attitude.

Two different games but a repetition of poetry in motion by Viney. Just like Vince on Dangerfield. Ablett can be next if he wishes, cos Petracca or Oliver will get his season off to a bad start and one must think that Frosty could artfully intercede at a critical moment.

Just outside for me. But how often have we ever fielded our best 22? He will be in the mix if available.

Vince will likely play 8 - 15 games in what will be his final year. 

Plus, he has excellent form when it comes to tagging Dangerfield. So why not?

Long way out but got a good feeling about this, I think break even in the middle we should kick a bigger score if our best 22 is available, they have the 3 stars but overall I think our 22 bats a bit deeper

'Artfully intercede' love it! But I do hope that Danger gets another weekend at burnies and gets just as frustrated as he did the day he was sent off crying.

My concern is that even if we can run with all of them in the middle at once, both Danger and Gablett have the capacity to break open a game up forward in no time. We don't have that. Yet. Though I believe we will at some stage with Petracca and Clarry.  

Just hope that they are so competitive, that all 3 collide at the centre bounce, with game ending injuries.

Break open a game up forward? Against which Melbourne players? How likely are Hibberd, Clarry, Jetta, Lever, Frosty and AN-B to allow this to happen, at all? Will Viney go missing? Our backline is elite, at last. Terribly elite and many of these players are not part of this list that first came to mind. Our only weakness is OMac. I agree that these Geelong players are also elite but doubt whether they will be able to break the Dees in 2018. Fair dinkum.

Hey Deemania. The majority of our losses last year could really be put down to in-game lapses where we allowed the opposition to get a run-on over a short period of time.

Due to the nature of our defensive systems, it doesn't make all that great a difference whether our 'defenders' are elite or not - as in opposition goals frequently come from defensive or offensive errors up field. This, as supporters, I'm pretty certain we will have to continue to like or lump in 2018. Probably more so.

Also, most of our 'elite' back-line was already in place last year - though we have added one truly elite defender to our unit which bumps everyone down a spot and should make a notable difference.

Defending against players like Dangerfield and Ablett near goals however takes a special sort of player and approach - which we don't especially have. Of our current crop, Jetta is an elite medium/small close-checking shut-down defender - but Hibberd was deemed AA due to a different skill-set. Our other mediums are offensive half-backs/mids.

Geelong are wily operators. If the chips are down, Dangerfield or Ablett will be sent forward with the express intention of isolating our weaker/unsuited defenders. I do like Frost. But Danger will like him even more if he can manufacturer a one-on-one against. Omac in this scenario gives me the willies and it's still pre-season in December.

Last year vs Geelong, we went into 3/4 time with a narrow lead and gave up three goals in the first five minutes of the final quarter (to add to the two we leaked in the last two minutes of the third). Game over. And after smothering them for the majority of the day.

My biggest problem:  the umpire love for these three is ridiculous.  We won’t catch a break until junk time square ups.  Gonna have to play against these goons with their fan club holding the whistles.

Dangerfield still there most important player. Shut him down and your part way there. Will be interesting to see how there backline goes after the retirements they had. Will not lose any sleep if we don’t beat them round one, unless we get smashed and show the soft underbelly we do from time to time.

They'll be up and firing early Round 1 and a very tough side. I think they will get found out as the season gets deeper. As FD says I wont be slitting my wrists blaming the Boot camp saga

Be confident, folks. We have a reason to win - making up for the last round last season - and the way our players returned from their break fit, ready to train and their training at the standard (according to these epistles and reports) that is being achieved. If we run, we beat Geelong. We have proven players in situ to take care of whatever the Cats may throw our way. 

If Viney takes the field in round one , he will be the inspiration he shows  leading by example. He is such an awesome character to have around and kills for the club. Go Champ.   Watch out Cats ! 

It's the ultimate test for us. I'd be pretty disappointed if we lost.
