You are just to easily satisfied...

There letting the club off lightly and there's  howling at the moon, we all pot the club when needed, and give the club  credit when deserved,  how is getting a new sponsor a disapointment, let's say well down on this one MFC, look to the future, and wait for something that  goes wrong to pot, no one can be angry at the club all the time, i think this thread is over and should be closed, the question was is there a sponsorship problem? Answer is no there is not, the club was just working through the details

Whatever. Both facets have to work together, but bottom line is wins.

It amazes me how much slack supporters have given the MFC over the years.

Each to their own

So how do supporters stop giving so much slack?  Are you suggesting we should have boycotted buying memberships in the last 10 years?  Would that achieve better on-field performance?      A few posts on this forum giving the club an easy ride has bugger-all effect on what actually happens.

Maybe he's suggesting a mass micro waving of memberships, ala Tigers supporters.

Small Companies mate, Zurich aside

The MFC should have the A graders, it just shows how bad things got.

Players not giving their all in the last 2 rounds of the previous 2 seasons has only made PJ’s job that much harder.

As the name of the city, to the home of the game we have not modernised well

We'll agree to disagree on the size of those companies.  At the end of the day, if they are willing to pay the $ figure required, I'll take them over a company like Apple, if Apple want to give us SFA.

Let's not forget, sponsorship is one income generator.  Here's something for you to chuckle/cringe at.  Some friends of mine are currently visiting from NZ, and are staying right in the CBD.  They always ask me how the MFC are going, even though they wouldn't know two things about the club.  I receive a message two days ago telling me that he purchased an AFL club shirt - a BLACK AND WHITE one!  Purchased from the CBD, by a non-AFL supporter (he just follows all sports and likes sports merchandise).

I continually bang on about it, but we are missing out on serious income by not having a merchandise store of some sort in the CBD.

We start advertising our brand in the Arrivals lounge of the International Airport, then we have a merchandise presence in the CBD.  It's revenue waiting to happen, and it has got me stuffed why we don't do it.

Couldn't agree more.

Or at least have the current store at the MCG open on the weekend.

Doesn't make sense. Are you saying Collingwood has a store in the CBD? I don't think so....

Or at least have the current store at the MCG located in an easily accessible location.        If possible outside the Gallery of Sport/MCG tours entrance - lots and lots of tourists coming and going with lots and lots of money to spend!

I think the club could sell the back of the shorts to a sponsor for a large sum?

1) We can't unless the AFL say clubs can.

2) No we shouldn't anyway.

3) Excessive sponsor logos cheapen the club's brand dramatically

I assume they've run the numbers and realised that the cost of operating a shop in the CBD would outweigh the financial benefit it may provide. I assume we are living rent-free (or close to) in the MCG Demon Shop so trading that off for a significant increase in rent for a small CBD shop that may sell the odd jumper or scarf to tourists wouldn't be feasible.

It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Whiteboard Zone.GraciousPerkyCockatoo-max-1mb.gif

It does make sense, given I didn't say Collingwood have a store in the CBD.  They, like a few other clubs, have merchandise available in many places.  The greater presence of their merch will naturally lead to more sales.  Also leads to greater exposure of the individual club.

Potentially rent free, but how much does this reduce our sales by?  If we had to pay (more) rent for a more accessible store in the CBD, you would like to think that this would increase our sales.  We may not make any more from it, but the exposure of our brand would increase, which has the chance to increase potential sponsor exposure.

Wasn't that at all.  He liked the shirt, it was accessible, so he bought it.

Also, a magpie looks a bloody lot different to a kiwi.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
