That was brilliant. Loved it.

Complete opposite to what I expected, he loves to talk! I look forward to the follow up next week.

He was quite the performer on the footy show in his day too if I recall correctly, so I'm not suprised that he loves to talk.

I actually think it's more surprising in some ways given his personality that he has become such a public recluse, but there is probably some ultimate wisdom and also something to be admired in that.  So many footballers these days seem to think they can have a second career as B grade celebrities, but in the end, bar the talented, inelegent and articulate few, they just end up wearing thin on the public thay once adored them.

Living somewhat close to Northern NSW, I'd love to find out the fishing charters he runs though.  A day spent fishing with Jacko would be an awsome experience and I wouldn't even care if I didn't catch anything as per usual.

In today's market we'd get 15 first round picks.

JACKA!!

That goal out of mid air and back over his head would have to be one of the all time most skilled/freakish goals.  Remember this game well.  If I recall correctly, Billy's dad took a screamer on the wing at some point as well.  Good game from Jacks uncle also.

This even got a mention in an article on AFL.com.  Of course, the so-called journalist didn't credit DL as the source, he just said " an entertaining two-hour-plus interview."  Not cool Mark McGowan.

Don't think you read closely enough Ralphius.

It's possible you could be correct.  I'd swear that wasn't there when I read the article at work, but it WAS work, so I was half asleep at the time.

He did mention Demonland Podcast. I've tweeted to him to ask if they can at least mention Demonland.com.  I'm not looking for personal fame and in any event Jako is/was the star. We were just facilitators.

Tomorrow they are running a story about the correlation with Jesse.

@Demonland, Jako more-or-less said at the end that he'd be open to doing a follow up interview.

Clearly it's only the day after following the interview but do you intend on taking him up on that inference?

Do the umpires screw us every week whilst shitting in the woods?

Sad fact is that with the way the game had gone we will never see another Jakovich. Look at his Body shape and no engine. Wouldn't have made it through the draft. He was the good old style stay within the 50m area of his goals forward. None of this pass off stuff, he knew he was there to kick goals and didn't he love doing it. Some thing I wish At least one of our forwards will do next session.

Not one mention of Jakovich interview/article on the Demons 'bigfooty' forum.

Average age there must be 13.

What are you doing in Osaka, Earl? PM me if you get towards Aichi. It would be nice to catch up with another member of the inner city intelligensia.

Colin, in Osaka to catchup with Japenese exchange students who have stayed with us over the years. Whirlwind tour and great fun so far. Wish it would stop raining though. Still haven't had time to listen to the Jackovich podcast yet! Maybe tonight.

It's fantastic seeing guys like Sean Wight , Andrew Obst, Luke Beverage, Steven Stretch in those clips too.

Wight was a very underrated  player , and the only one in our team who could match Abletts speed and aerial ability.

Obst was a sublime user of the footy and attacked it pretty hard too.

A really well balanced side.

Another Jako article, oh boy.   Your interview is the gift that will keep on giving.

It still feels surreal that the great man has emerged to speak...  cant imagine what it must have been like talking to him.

And who was the other interviewer, was that nasher?

Anyway, great job guys.  Just amazing.   As good as it gets, and it will never be topped any footy journo, or anyone else.

would have been decent if Marc McGowan had acknowledged his source

I missed it too, but he does mention:

"I feel for young Jesse. I hope he runs out there and remembers his old man every time he does, and that will help," Jakovich told the Demonland.com Podcast.

mmm possibly. In any case, isn't it great to see our little lunatic asylum being sourced in mainstream media?!

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna wake up in the shower and the Demonland Allen Jakovich podcast will be nothing but a dream!

I woke up the next morning in cold sweats the day after fearing the same thing.

Just listened this afternoon. What an absolute ripping bloke. One of the most exciting entertainers - any club, any era.

I highly recommend the interview to supporters of all clubs.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
