Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm pretty sure we are well run and would have our salary cap under control.  If this is true however and we have allowed ourselves to get into salary cap trouble then my confidence in the Club just nose-dived somewhat

It's not cap trouble, as you put it....it's the fact several players have increased in value since their last deal...it's happens

Watts going to happen in 2018 ?

If he goes to Port, apparently it will be better for him as he will get a tan below the neckline. Same with Geelong or Sydney.

In fact, the only joint he still has the complexion of Jimmy Jess is Melbourne. For that alone, he should leave.

For those out in Demonland who think trading Watts for a high 20's pick- here's some name for you. In the last 10 years the players that went at 28 and the games they played:

  • 2007 Marlan Motlop - 0
  • 2008 Shaun McKernon - 52
  • 2009 Mitch Duncan - 159
  • 2010 Ryan Lester - 102
  • 2011 Fraser McInnes - 11
  • 2012 Tim Obrien - 34
  • 2013 Lewis Taylor - 85
  • 2014 Dillon Viojo - Rainbow - 0
  • 2015 Luke Partington - 6

Hardly a whos who of AFL

Another interesting fact for those that think Watts was not a good get (i admit he went too high at no1). Of the top 20 draft picks in Jack's year he has played the 6th highest number of games.

I am yet again in "the confusion room"

Why trade a 150 game player with elite skills for a roll of the dice in the draft? What if we get a Marlan Motlop????

You sure

The player affectionately known as ‘Skittles’ arrived at the Blues at the end of 2014, after being selected by Carlton with pick 28 in the National Draft. Although he is yet to debut in the senior side,

just in case your wondering what happened to Marlon

Marlon Motlop is a Larrakian Australian rules footballer who played with the Port Adelaide Football Club in the AFL. He currently plays with North Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian National Football League.

This thread is infuriating. People need to up their medication if they think Watts is staying. Geez!!
This thread is about what we will get in return, not if he will stay or not

I'm convinced you received a faulty batch of Skwosh and customer support aren't returning your calls.

Nearly right, have opinions on players, don't always share them, but in this case

Watts, agree with FD , for whatever reason is not where he should be in terms of consistency of performance after 9 years and can understand where Goody is coming from

If he goes, he goes, 22 make a team, support whoever is on the field in that 22 representing the Red and Blue

I find most threads amusing, some of the unintended hilarity is breathtaking

Delightfully patronising as usual Saty.

If we are stretched it is the most over paid list in AFL history.  Our club and players have done nothing since 2006, we have improved but still haven't embarked on a finals campaign for a very long time

Yes, but it's not about what happens now, but moving forward over the next couple of years. Hogan comes out of contract next year, not sure of status of Oliver and Petracca, all of those will have to be (very) well-paid.

But what about all of those in the 30's, 40s, 50s, and beyond who are superb players ?

When you have a pick in the late 20s don't you also have access to those ?

Do you want me to name a few or 30 ?

Who says we would go to the draft with it?  Every chance it could be part of something else.

And I hate these draft retrospectives.  Every chance we can draft a good player at that pick.  Just because others haven't doesn't mean we won't.

I believe it will happen and Wattsy will head to Port on a three year deal for pick 29.

Looks shocking in that jumper though

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
