Hes about to turn 31, and hes a ruckman.

Tipping a huge drop off next year and a retirement at seasons end.

lets no shoot down the poster for suggesting trading gawn for kelly.  i dont agree with it but at least he understands that you have to give up quality to get quality. some people on here were suggesting watts and Spencer etc.

i think gawn will return back better next season but gawn wasnt in the top 10 ruckman this season even when playing

Would love to see him back at the club, although as others have pointed out highly unlikely to come back and play for us. On another note I would be open to putting Max Gawn on the trade table particularly in a bid to do a trade for Josh Kelly.

Trade the only real ruck we have - naaa

Trading Martin to the Lions for next to nothing was close to the worst trade decision I have ever seen from this club (with the clear exception of the Byron Pickett debacle), and there have been plenty of shockers over the past ten years.

The fact that Jamar and Spencer were kept makes the decision even worse, irrespective of any personal issues that were in play.

That said, I can't see him wanting to come to us, or us wanting him, unless Max decides to further his media career.

The Darren Jolly trade would have to be up there with the worst.

31 years old and useless as anything but a 1st ruck. Pass.

This is the guy who was compiling 25 to 30 possessions a game last year at least and on top of his very competitive hit out numbers. I must admit I have not checked his numbers this year but is he now gone so quickly?

Age doesn't necessarily bring in wisdom

I thought Martin was from Qld?? Am I missing something here?

Edit: Seems he is from Victoria originally.... not sure where I got that idea from.

Probably because Spencil is from Qld.

Getting your ruckman mixed up Dom.

It's pretty common knowledge that Martin has one of the highest school leaving scores/IQ in the AFL.  Him going to the Dogs really would be like a rose amongst the thorns!

FYI Will Minson was a very high academic achiever too.

The odds of us trading Max would be 100:1

So, about the odds of us winning a "must win to make finals" game!?

Martin's game is starting to regress. Has 2 years left before its curtains.

Would rather role the dice on a player with some room to grow.

Gawn has #1 ruck covered.

I think Stefan should remain a past player and for his sake he should stay with the Lions.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
