Sydney supposedly into Watts, we want a second rounder is what has been reported via trade radio.

SEN said that 20-25 would be fair for Watts. Be interested to see what we get for him (although still in shock that we are throwing him away).

Throwing him away? You don't think some of the blame for this lays at his feet as well?

Jesus Adelaide, stop being so greedy.

yet Gibbs is not worth 2 first rounders on the flip.

Intriguing that three players from their grand final team in Level, Sloane and Cameron might be out. GWS sound like they are about to make some big changes as well.

Just goes to show that making finals exposes holes in your list perhaps even more than missing finals altogether.

Yeah, just read Wilson, Smith and Kennedy have all requested trades.

Don't mind Wilson, can't remember the poster but a few weeks back it was said he would seek Fremantle.

Heath Shaw may also be on the way out of GWS.

Really? Why?! Unreal, I hope GWS die

Heath Shaw is finished at AFL level. He'd be on big coin, so they are better off without him.

OK I thought the other way around, thought they were all leaving because of something. On phone but apparently some big bomb about to drop at midday, not sure which club.

Not having a shot but i don't get why people don't want GWS to thrive.

Once the decision was made to go down that path (and leaving aside the debate about the merits of that decision) it became critical that GWS succeed. Huge challenge to do so in that market but the AFL have committed for the long haul and if the GWS don't get embedded and achieve sustained success they will be a massive drain on the rest of the competition for decades.

The other issue - and is a big one - is that a  key performance indicator of the investment in GWS is growing the number of people playing Australian Rules Football. If that pool is not growing the AFL will have issues with having enough elite AFL ready players to spread across 18 sides. If GWS are not regularly winning finals it will be difficult to continually increase the participation rate in NSW and develop talent via the academies and regional investment.  .

I disagree, i think his 2016 and 15 were good. This year it was dissapointing how it started, but i think he got back into the swing of things before his injury.

EDIT: I should add, no player plays perfect for 22 games. 2016 Jack was a big part of our forward line.

Sloane out of Adelaide.  Massive news

I guess my biggest gripe is we bottomed out when they got all their draft picks, they had something like 11 of the first 15 picks. However we certainly had our chances and blew it. My other concern is, I think the league would be better suited to less teams and more talent (less diluted), then chuck in Scully lol. I like their song though and it's now up to the club to deliver for once. (totally off topic post).

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
