Yep, just saw the replay. Genuine spoiling attempt going back with the flight.

Life ban.

It was very similar to Watts one yesterday.

Gawn was terrible today. Didnt lay a tackle.

He used to win games for us with his marking but I cant remember him tearing one apart this year

Difference being, I think, that Bernie copped Beams with an elbow, where as Wattsy was all body contact. I think Bernie's was a genuine spoiling attempt, and Jack was bracing for impact, which was minimal

First half against Port before he hurt his ankle. He was huge

In: Salem, Watts/Frost (depending on match ups vs Collingwood)

Out: Wagner, Stretch

Finding a third out is a bit harder if Viney is fit but Hannan, Vince, Harmes and ANB would have to be the ones in question. But I doubt Viney is fit.

He was creamed by Martin in the first half but improved markedly in the second half. Came out with aggression in the third which helped us.

He was also utterly dominant against the likely AA ruckman (Ryder) against Port before rolling his ankle.

Last week at least he was in the marking contests but today just wasnt close to them.

At what point will selectors bring Tyson into these omission discussions? He is a momentum killer.  27 possessions at 59% just doesn't cut it. He is also a liability away on the spread. And for those that want to quote its due to his role; Jones, Lewis and Oliver all went at better than 80%.

Out: Wagner, Stretch, Tyson (only if Viney plays which I dont expect)

In: Watts, Salem, Viney (if fit)

Yup - he's down in confidence and hunger. Needs to step up

Bernie's was a football act, the contact with his forearm was in the same spirit of sportsmanship as Selwoods elbow to the head.

If bernie is suspended I'd expect Watts in.

?? What did he do now?

I'm for Watts but it would be a career game for him. Would much prefer Frost in. And Salem

Wagner and Stretch are definite outs.

It's worth noting Salem was dropped for form reasons. And then got himself suspended in the VFL with a careless act. I'd have him back personally but I'm not sure he'd be an automatic in at the selection table.

JKH wouldn't shock me. Goodwin seems to be a fan.

Salem in for Stretch

if any injuries or outs, Maynard in for whoever.

Frost bashing on the door.

Maybe Brayshaw plays the role Salem does.

Hense In : Watts to gi ve us better link to Fwd line ,Viney (IF FIT!!!!!)( cause he is captain)

Out: Wagner ,Stretch

Is Bernie in any sort of trouble for the hit on Beams? Was pretty clearly going for the footy and just braced for contact. Obviously trying to spoil but was looking the other way

What colour is his jumper?  Has he a "bad record".  Is the MRP due to "send a message" about anything?

JKH - 19 tackles yesterday

How does Wagner get a game?? Blows my mind

Yeah he's not very good

Goodwin loves tacklers.    That IS an amazing number of tackles in anyone's language.

all will depend upon injuries and suspensions

wagner gets a game cos he's a classic role player; like harmes he's not overly skilled but he has a dip at every contest

in saying that, it's hard to see watts or vince being suspended, although the latter is borderline compared to the former in the magoos - if he is to come back in, it's at the expense of either harmes or wagner you'd think

IN: viney, watts
OUT: stretch, wagner

B: Jetta - T Mac - Hibberd
HB: Hunt - O Mac - Lewis
C: Tyson - Jones - Vince
HF: Petracca - Pedersen - Melksham
F: Hannan - Hogan - Garlett
Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney
I/C: Watts - Brayshaw - ANB - Harmes

salem needs a massive vfl game to get back in for finals week 1

Tyson was one of the reasons we got out to a 40 point lead last week, opened the Saints up in the first quarter

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
