I think the only thing that will stop him coming across is a bigger money offer from the Bummers.

They have an extra 1.3M to spend with Saad, Daniher and Fantasia going.

Especially If they miss out on Macrae

The Dons would be deluding themselves if they’re thinking they’ll be in contention in the next 3 years. They should be aiming at the draft and building a team to conTend in 5 yrs...

The only look at football available in the period after the football season was postponed after round 1 was through the medium of old replays on Foxtel. I loved the 1991 game against North Melbourne when Allen Jakovich kicked 11 goals 8 behinds and one out on the full. His marking and kicking (including the scissor kick goal) were just so exciting and the game was enhanced by the fact that John Longmire’s six goal performance for the Kangaroos was pretty flash as well. We also had Darren Bennett and Garry Lyon in the team and they were also strong marks - and not to mention the sublime Jimmy Stynes in the ruck.

The high marking of forwards, particularly in pack situations is almost completely out of the game and high scoring has dried up as a result of the way it’s played these days. The 20% reduction in game time this year hasn’t helped.

Watching the Richmond v Brisbane game highlighted this. Tom Lynch took one strong contested mark but they were otherwise few and far between. I do like the way Ben Brown has played in the past but I’m not sure that we’re going to see too many full forwards produce 50 goal seasons in the future. Key forwards are going to need a few more arrows in their bows to succeed in the AFL in the years to come. Unfortunately, there aren’t  many around like Jako these days.

Dr G He has the ability to be if he fulfills his potential. And Goody does not expect him to monster beasts in marking duels.

He beat Nick Hayne GWS snd Ridley Ess in last 2 matches and still scored and missed goals Whole not allowing them to mark and intercept.

Taks e very good Footballer to beat those two excellent HB flankers!

Bayley will be a star on our firward line kicking over 40 goals per season starting next season of 22 matches.

I guess we have different definitions of A graders.

we can pay one guy $650 to kick 50+ goals a year, or we can pay two guys $700k+ who kick 40 goals between them. No brainer go after him.

Doubt he'd accept $650k given what he knocked back at North.

Sorry ladies and gents, late to the party and just caught up on the news.

Great to see we're front runners to secure his services. Having him on the list would without doubt improve are premiership potential for the coming years.

Regarding trade currency, pick 23 is a no brainer and certainly not overs.

The one major thing I'd hope to see from the coaching staff is an alteration of the game plan. Brown is an old-school forward and when provided a paddock (space in F50) he leads and marks superbly. I hope Goodwin and co. realise this and stop flooding our forward 50. Instead leave the two talls forwards with small crumbers in there to let them do what they do best. Then flood at the arc to lock it in there.

I wonder if this is part of the reason the likes of Hannan and ANB may not be at the club next year.  The role of Melksham and Fritsch surely should change as well.

Sam Edmund on SEN pretty much going with Ben Brown is looking likely to be a demon.

Has already done a medical and has had two meetings and by all reports went well.

Yup hes coming to the Dees alright.

Turns 28 next month so plenty of good footy left in him...   Tom Hawkins and Josh kennedy are still going strong  at age 32/33.

Yep, giddy up folks!

Just a glimpse of what he could potentially do for us.

Happy days if true. Can't believe some people are on the fence about this. If he was coming this time last year we'd all be doing cartwheels. I get there seems something odd about him being traded for only a 2nd rounder, but we don't usually like touching damaged goods so I might just put this one down to Norf's incompetence.

Yes you are harsh in your opinion IMO and would prob only have one A grader at the Dees

Gawn or Trac

I believe we have 4 with Clarry and Maysie also.

My opinion of Fritta is beside upon his skill and ability he has.

Right now he is prob only a "B" BUT he has so much room for improvement.

Strength accuracy footy smarts leading and confidence are all areas and  he has indicated he wants to improve his game big time.

If he can I believe he will be as important to us or more Jack Gunston has been For the Hawks.

I can't help feeling you have already marked his papers never or not to get to A grade for  the Dees

I have been frustrated a lot with Bayley but poor coaching and development have not helped and his confidence is the most important for Bayley in his improvement.

Opinion or information?

Friend at work who told me Brown was meeting with Melbourne before i saw anything in the media or on any forums. I didn't think much of it because i knew we were linked, next day he says it went well and hasn't heard of anyone else seriously in for him.

I haven't heard anything else about any other meetings or trade agreements etc.. but others seem to have.

Frost for Brown. Imagine pulling that off a year ago.

As a supporter, I had a love hate relationship with Frost. Clearly talented but made far too many mistakes for me.

When playing at North - hate his stupid run up, hate his flopping for frees, hate how straight of a kick he is for goal and I hate his stupid hair cut.

Now that he is pretty much going to be a Demon - the run up is perfect and genius, those free kicks are always there and he gets a poor run from the umps, he is a beautiful set shot and I wish I had a hair cut like his.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti
