Pickett2Jackson 3,904 Posted April 10, 2021 Posted April 10, 2021 Played a half for Casey and seems to have impressed. Could he play next week against the hawks or does he need another hit out in the VFL? Quote
JTR 2,910 Posted April 10, 2021 Posted April 10, 2021 Gut feel after watching him today is that he's not quite ready and could do with a few more VFL minutes before stepping up. He certainly had no noticeable issues with his mobility, or jump, or second efforts. Just probably needs a bit more match fitness, imo 3 Quote

If he can be plonked in the goal square for Casey next week then he can for Melbourne too (if his knee has no issues during the week). 2 Quote

And they would be within their rights to think Weideman would mature and come on, I think he actually has started to but has been battling injury since mid-2019 and had to work as the sole key forward for much of 2020. I have faith in Weid. Are you related to The Weid? He will want to show a lot more endeavour if he wants to play in the main game 1 Quote

BDA 23,048 Posted April 10, 2021 Posted April 10, 2021 Anzac eve would be a tough first up game for BB. Prefer he gets a run against the Hawks 3 Quote

dazzledavey36 56,265 Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 Kicked his 300th AFL goal. Probably an achievement that doesn't get the recognition it deserves. But well done Benny Brown. I think it's fair to say now that he's locked his spot in the team now going into finals. Starting to hit some good form now which is handy and really think we'll Brown play a crucial role come September. Played a great game last night especially early when he was giving us a target to kick too. Surprisingly was also clean in the wet conditions as well. 4 Quote
Jaded No More 68,976 Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 Found fitness and oh look he’s the same great player he’s always been. People calling his trade a disaster or saying he isn’t in our best team…. lol He is a gun forward. His marking is insanely good. His goal kicking is reliable (mostly) and he makes us a lot better. Also like that he’s getting involved at ground level a lot more. 9 1 Quote
YesitwasaWin4theAges 6,815 Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 Most importantly he's got his mojo back, feeling good about himself again. 🙏🇭🇹 Quote
The heart beats true 18,201 Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 He’s really got back his ability to take the ball at its highest point, and he’s worked very hard on his defensive stuff and ground ball intensity. I think it’s a big credit to our fitness staff. 1 Quote
titan_uranus 25,235 Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 Had 10 pressure acts tonight, same as Hawkins, more than TMac (8) and Cameron (5) so stacked up reasonably well in the tall forward stakes. 1 Quote
dees189227 12,509 Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 No question, he stays in the team now. He was good tonight. Kicked straight, provided a contest & applied pressure. How happy would he be tonight with his decision to leave nth. Quote

rpfc 29,017 Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 3AW just did a great interview with Ben just then and talked through his change in how he played and his role and his own belief in himself. The club seemed to believe in him more than we did and even perhaps more than he did. Well done to the club for having a plan and executing it - he was great and is a point of difference for his going into Sept 25. When he has a run and jump at the footy he looks like he takes it 15 feet in the air. 8 Quote
P-man 13,367 Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 Those hands. They’re like supersized baseball gloves coated in some kind of glorious adhesive. 5 Quote
Guest Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 A bloke who genuinely shiffed me when he played at North by the amount of frees he used to draw is now one of my favorite players. It’s not even his goal return that I love (which has been steady, not spectacular as of late). It’s his ability to turn any delivery from CHF and deeper into a contest. He’s not a Jonno Brown bruiser by any stretch of the imagination, but he can get a hand in there or an arm in the way like few I’ve seen. And when he is one out with the ball at eye level, he has some of the safest hands in our team. Love the bloke! Quote
Supreme_Demon 4,132 Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 I like the fact that Big Benny Brown marks the ball at its highest point. Was pleasing that he kicked a few goals last night. Still needs to focus on his goal kicking accuracy though. Nothing wrong with the long run up, just needs to not wobble the ball around too much before he kicks it. Having said that I am sure he will get plenty of goal kicking practice over the next 2 weeks. Well done Big Benny Brown! Keep up the excellent work! 1 Quote
Wrecker46 3,130 Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 I have a feeling BB will play his best ever game on grand final day. He probably still won't win Norm Smith because Oliver, petracca or Gawn will take that. 1 Quote
Jibroni 5,056 Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 And to think Jeremy Cameron (who is the same age) cost Geelong Picks 13, 15 and 20 and Ben Brown just a pick in the 30's. He is coming good at the right time. 9 Quote
spirit of norm smith 16,677 Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 Getting better each week. Feel he might be a key in the GF. Has kicked the first goal in both finals. 10 pressure acts really showed his value. 1 Quote
Hopeful Demon 1,541 Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 (edited) Brown has been crucial lately. His contested marking ability has been excellent and I've noticed how reliable his field kicking is. Our forwardline clearly functions much better when he's in the team. He's been the recruit we needed. Edited September 11, 2021 by Hopeful Demon 1 Quote
