Not sure how anyone could be negative about this trade. Brown is the most productive forward we've had since Neitz, and we essentially traded him in for a pick in the 30s. We basically traded Preuss (a 25 year old ruckman played 10 games) for Brown (a 27 year old key forward played 130 games for 287 goals).

Even if Brown goes at 50% of his peak output, he'd still be our leading goal kicker!

On paper, it's possibly the best trade the club has done this century. F*cking stoked we pulled it off!

It will be interesting to see whether Brown's presence shows whether our scoring woes are more due to deficiencies of the forwards (pre-BBrown) or deficiencies of those who deliver the ball into the forward line. It might take a little while for Brown to gel, but given we know he's a proven lead-mark-kick forward, if the midfield can't deliver properly, he's not going to be as successful as we want.

I cannot believe how much crap @Hogans Demonsis getting over his crummy meme...

If you have ever called a player a ‘spud’ you have done worse.

People need to get the poles out of their [censored] right quick.

Poles or polls?

Not great but a very good player. Number 4, if I remember correctly who  went to East Ringwood in the EDFL as it was in the old days.

Ironic referencing J.Lord in a B.Brown thread - opposite ends of the hirsute spectrum! JL was an early, premiership hero of mine - I must have intuited where my own head was going!

I'm fascinated by the polarisation here on Brown (though it's heavily positively one-sided). Me, I can't guess how he's going to be; I'm just waiting to be very pleasantly surprised and looking forward to the extra watchability he'll bring.

Number 4 I seem to remember Tim......J Lord.

And here we have a “blown out of proportion” type nuffie.

But, but ... what I said was just a joke, why don't you lighten up and stop making attacks on my lack of intelligence.

Hopefully its detailed instructions on a new clever and ingenious game plan where we move the ball efficiently inside F50 - if so please ensure BBB receives a copy after you give us all the low down

AF Whats wrong with Fritschy?
He has  been our best forward fir last 2 years even with poor kicking fir goal And underwhelming forward line coaching and development.

If he puts on more weight it will help his body strength in marking and tackling . Also his kicking is mainly in his head. He needs practice and confidence plus bring taught the smarts ie not leading to pockets.

Will be a major strength of our team once these issues are worked on.

Fritta always seemed to be in the wrong pocket when kicking for goal. Not sure if that was coaching placement or his tracking movement. I recall he was accurate initially and only noticed his positioning when the inaccuracy increased .

Brown may have a highlight reel where he runs a little straighter and to the correct pocket for his natural kick.

Yep, John Lord was a great footballer, too. Another Demon of note with a big heart.

Putting two and two together, I've just realised that our new full forward with the Sideshow Bob hair is a Demon-supporting, Demonland moderator with an interest in wine and who lives, or perhaps works (or both), in St Kilda.

Big  Ben is the difference   and barring any  injuries that would keep him out for long term he is the life saver.  IMO he will help our much maligned forward line. We have the troops in the mid to deliver the ball especially if someone like Ben demands it

However it is not just up to Ben he is only the missing piece to the puzzle,

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
