Uhm because they’ve had a lot more success than Melb in our lifetimes? Good on them for sticking by the club.

We would not be trading Brayden Preuss if we weren't extremely confident Luke Jackson was going to extend his contract.

Not traded yet and he is deciding to leave, so no correlation to Jackson’s intentions.

Good get Cards. Four flags in 45 years for a club with limited resources is a marvellous effort.

Truth is given North’s relative success it actually shows that having success is one piece of the puzzle, being able to capitalise on it is another. Given their 90s they should be a powerhouse.

Since 2000 they haven’t had anything to ride home about and been sitting comfortably in mediocrity ever since, unwilling to ever bottom out properly (no choice now). I’m not saying we’ve been any better because we haven’t.

Truth is, they've one one flag every 11 years on average for 45 years. In the period, that record is only bettered by Carlscum, and Horethorn.

We’d be close to that over 60 years... ?

I'm not arguing their onfield success hasn't been good, of course I'm bloody envious. But many of us bemoan the fact that during the AFL's transition from semi-professional into elite sport we were garbage meant that we missed out on the opportunity to be a bigger and better club. North had that but are still in the position they are where they're fighting to survive, I'm just pointing out that they failed to capitalise when they had their chance, they should be a powerhouse with that success but they aren't.

Disagree, bad business for the MFC to give him our blessing to assess his options, and allow him to select a desired new home and then block it at the last minute. i think the club would have a reason to be confident of Jacksons intentions to stick around before those steps were taken. even if it were verbal.

That's Rolfe to you!

Another one for the good guys.

Treloar is an interesting one, keep an eye on.

Personally i thought they did have a chance to become a powerhouse club if they re-located. unfortunately sentiment prevented that from happening but it did feel there was an opportunity missed there in my view.

We won on average a flag every 9 years since the start of WW2.

Would be very surprised if he wasn't pushed.

So Demonlanders.  What is Ben Brown worth?

Brown for MFC 2020 Pick 25* (ie. Hawks 2nd rounder) ?

or

Brown & NMFC 2021 3rd round pick for
MFC 2020 Pick Pick 25* ?

Can someone explain why when North show him the door they can expect much in return?

I would say Brown for pick 25 would get it done, and get it done early.

North might push for something extra though.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
