IF he's coming then its time he came out and said so. Otherwise we're start to look like second choice depending on how other things go. Time to pull the frikn trigger already.

Could not agree more. Need to know now so we can get a trade sorted and cash ready. I personally think it will be a good combo- Weeds and Brown, Jackson and Gawn floating in forward line. Get Milkshake, Petracca and Pickett roaming around and the forward line starts to look right and the ruck has s new complexity!

Red, Blue and Brown!

You could interpret that as being a last call for bidders to try and leap frog back into contention after being told the house was on the market and above reserve price

Herald sun also announced he just declared Melbourne as his club of choice

Let it rain goals. We have been bereft of genuine big forwards for way too long

Terrific news for Demons, will make a significant difference to forward line!

Add 40-60 goals!

HUGE get. I don’t think some on here quite realise how important this is.

For years we’ve had no issues getting it into our forward 50 but conversion has been the issue. This guy is the answer to this massive problem we’ve had.

The only query was whether he was okay injury wise but our medical team has given him the tick of approval so it’s full steam ahead.

What a signing he will be, great stuff Dees!

Great news. Now lets get the trade done for pick 23 and move on quickly.

This is a huge get for the club. He's the most productive tall forward we've had since Neitz. Even if he doesn't hit 60 goals a season again, he takes pressure off other so Weid is no longer double teamed and creates crumbing opportunities for Kozzy. Helps our forward line in many ways. Welcome Ben!

No this indeed a huge get.

Great win for us. This takes enormous pressure off Weid and Jackson.

All the overly anxious can settle themselves now. Welcome to Melbourne, Ben Brown.

He's out of contract so we have the power here. Pick 23 should get it done quickly.

No bending over like we did in 2017 when Lever was out of contract and we still ponied up two first rounders!

I’m delighted. If we do land that elusive flag we will look back on this moment as pivotal.

It sounds like Burgess was key to the deal so I would love to get confirmation that he is staying.

Next on my wish list - Tom Phillips

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
