It's here andĀ I'm excited about this game and our inclusions.Ā

I haven't beenĀ to the G in about 5 years to watch a gameĀ so I'm looking forward to seeing the boys live with my kids and hoping we play a hard contestedĀ game and come out on top.Ā

Firstly I'm off to aĀ pre match function where Bernie (slugger) Vince will be in attendance. Should be interesting.Ā Hope he doesn't hit me!

One final thing GO DEES.Ā

Ā

I'm really looking forward to going to this one, then I'm going to Casey after so it's looking like bacon and eggs for dinner.

One more thing, GO DEES!!!

I'll be teeing off at 9am them it's home for the game then off to a poker tournament.

Wife is worried about my alcohol consumption, don't know why only have to keep count till half time, after that I won't remember a thing, satdys for the boys.

Ā

Also one final thing GO DEES

Working hard in the Bahamas, will be early in the AM at game time on this side of the world, please refrain from giving away the result on here until I've woken up and watched the reply. Cheers ?

Down in Tassie acclimatising for next week.

Hoping I can find some coverage of the game but not confident n the wilderness beyond Strahan.

GO DEES

At work today, dammit.

I've decided to avoid the interwebs /Ā social media and watch the game as though live later tonight (thanks @binmanĀ for your decisive persuasion in the Match Preview thread). It's going to be a loooong day.....

Good luck boys and girlsĀ

Spewin I cant get into the big smoke today. No idea how this will fall...

We need to stop them from starting fast. Ā That I think is the challenge. Make it an arm wrestle early, dont leery them get their tails up.Ā

C'mon Dees!

What a strange time to start a game of footy. Sat around 2pm. ... Oh, hang on, there's something strangely familiar about this.

(In my mid forties, things start to flood back) I remember son, at quarter, half and 3/4 time, filling in the footy record, A vĀ B, C v D etc, taking a tram to this other that suburban ground, the thermos of soup my aunt and her friends brought. ...

(Shaking myself back to today) It feels good not to have to wait too long into the afternoon for the game to begin.

We won but your days of tax evasion are over.

Regards to the other criminals!!!

As I posted in the Match Preview thread I'm pretty confident of a win and wouldn't be suprised if it's 5-6 goals. All year I've been saying one day this team will explode and from the 1st bounce they'll be on.. Similiar to what we saw us do against Sydney in 2010, IĀ dont think it will be to that extent but today's the day

Strange move by the AFL to put football on at the MCG at 2pm on a Saturday.

Innovative and bold-I wonder if it's something they copied from the NFL or Basketball ?

We have never won on a return game from Darwin... we will find out today if thats just cos we have been such a poor team for many years or if the trip drains the players.

Although we have changed a quarter of the squad from last week, four of those guys are returning from injuries and haven't played in a few weeks at least. Ā The other guy hasn't played AFL in a year.

Interesting times ahead.

Praise the Lord for aĀ decent starting time.

I can get boozed while enjoying the footy and still return to the warm bosom of Romsey Manor at a respectable hour.

Few fullstrentghs at the G to keep warm today I think. Quietly confident of a win.

Hopefully if Adelaide's performance last night is anything to go by we should be fine!

With 3Ā JacksĀ coming in you would go a long way to winning.

What's a respectable time if we win? Ā I'm thinking 4am, especially after a few hours of the warm bosom of Goldfingers.

Dees by 24 points and play ferocious footy to get the season back on track!Ā

Dees by 21Ā

i see two very strong forward lines, I think our midfield is deeper, and I am more confident of our backline containing their forwards than I am of their backs containing ours.Ā

Yes ChazzĀ ... it is variable ...and can be less than respectable.

Hoping for a win andĀ a memorable return for Jack Trengove

Youre right. Ā  I didnt even think about that.

No excuses then.

The AFL are trialing something new. Melbourne at the G on a Sat, middle of winter, starting at 2.10pm....Simply inspired !!Ā :rolleyes:Ā Ā Someone got a bonus for than I'm sureĀ ^_^

What about their fade out in Q4?

Yep, and they only kicked 3 goals in 2nd half.

To me, that makes how we start today even more important.

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.Ā  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.Ā

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking?Ā I mean by ā€œtheyā€ the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack.Ā Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winningĀ 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
