I bring this up as a lot of people around me at the football have no idea who I am cheering for when yell the name Nibbler or Chunk.
I also have a new name for the number 21 Pederson so we don't have to be cheering out go Pedo....

how about "The Cardinal"

While Maximus was down he was more like the Saviour

That's it then. Cardinal Pedo.

I'll say it again, the most simple alternative is 'Pedders'

Been suggesting this for the last four years, haha.

I noticed when I have been to training that all the other players call him Pedo.

Nibbler- Neale-Bullen

Chunk- Jones

I hope that clears it up.

The cardinal is a decent name for Pedo!

Yeah " the Cardinal " would feel like he's on trial too !

Maybe there's more to it than meets the eye.

I had to look it up. From Wikipedia (so it must be true...)

"Optimus Prime (formerly Orion Pax) is a fictional character from the Transformers franchise. Optimus Prime is consistently depicted as having strong moral character, excellent leadership, and sound decision-making skills, and possesses brilliant military tactics, powerful martial arts, and advanced alien weaponry. Optimus Prime has a strong sense of honor and justice, being dedicated to building peaceful and mutually beneficial co-existence with humans, the protection of life and liberty of all sentient species."

Based on the above the players must think Frost has one or more of the following characteristics:

  • strong moral character
  • excellent leadership
  • sound decision-making skills
  • possesses brilliant military tactics
  • has powerful martial arts skills
  • has advanced alien weaponry.

Or, the players are being deliberately ironic and he has none of them.

Or, that he's 'transformed' from being a crap forward.

In my very mediocre suburban football career in the 70's I was, in my last year nicknamed "Crasher" and a lot of opposition players were quite apprehensive at the start of every game as to who they were dealing with. I was given the Crasher moniker because I had stacked and written off another player's car in the off season! And how I did that is another storey.

Optimus Prime, whilst also the leader, is the biggest and strongest of the Autobots (good guy transformers). I don't think it's any deeper than he is a fair specimen.

Maybe he's a robot in disguise...

I nickname my Geodudes 'Jack Viney'.

Doesn't matter if they roll 'Rock Head' or 'Sturdy' as their ability, works both ways.

So I dug a little deeper into Transformers lore. Optimus is a red and blue fellow originally from the synthetic orange planet of Unicron, which employs the help of the Decepticon$ - led by Optimus's former mentor and now sworn enemy Mega-tom, a corrupted robot who had betrayed his original creator 'Primus'.

Either the players have too much time on their hands or I do.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
