The ironic thing about the diving thing is that Vince did one of the lamest, most blatant stages I've ever seen, in a period of the game where there was actually something to gain by doing it, and I literally have not seen or heard it mentioned anywhere. I suppose nobody actually punched him in the face, so there's no actual crime we can blame him for.

That's why I can understand the view of others who would like to see the club publicly back Oliver at some stage. His poor reputation is being allowed to snowball out of control, over stupid things, It's getting ridiculous.

Because there's no reason for the AFL to do anything about it now that any possible PR fallout has been "managed". And because nothing ever changes for the AFL unless they're held to account for it in public. And because "getting past it" or "just moving on" has done absolutely nothing for us this season.

And when did I say that the club can "kick, scream, yell" and so on? How about a simple but firm statement about players being contacted by spectators during the game is not acceptable? Nobody actually said that yet. In fact, Goody said they'd look at it before commenting, but their silence is eloquent.

Yeah, Goody's presser was great, and today the club (not the coach) had a great opportunity to back up Goody's words with acts, but we just don't have the 'nads for it.

He'll let his football do the talking and his reputation will be just fine.

Alternatively, the club or any other individual speaks for him at this 'grave injustice' and the target on his back becomes bigger again.

I think it's been nipped in the bud in a timely manner.

This situation will pop up again at the next Carlton game at the G. Wonder if those seats were not available at all for the rest of Carlton's "G" Games? What a pity.........

What did he say, "touch me again and I'll kill you" - what, we all worry that Oliver would jump the fence and attack him? It's an admittedly aggressive response to a fl*g being aggressive towards him but it's wasn't racist, it wasn't sexist, it wasn't homophobic, and it was in response to being unnecessarily pushed/touched/shoved.

I see no reason for Oliver to have to apologise which implies the coward deserved an apology of any kind.

I'm sorry but this is absolutely correct. Clarrys momentum took him to the fence as par the course of the game. The moron stood up and clearly pushed him back....it doesn't matter how hard or soft it was. Its unacceptable that a fan can have any physical contact with a player.
