I'm with @ProDee on this one. Get Lever and go for Whitfield as the cheaper option.

Naturally, if we could get Kelly and Lever that would be great, but we can't afford to throw out our cap by paying Kelly ridiculous dollars.

It also flies in the face of the list management strategy that we seem to have adopted.

We should've offered overs last year (600-750k). He may have bitten. I mentioned it at the time. But now its probably too late. We would have to compromise a lot now, and probably more than 1m a year come contract time. Kelly is that good. But teams have to identify them early, and hit them hard. I think we'll see that trend eventuate now. Every side dropped the ball on Kelly. They offered him slight overs when they should've have offered him massive overs (at the end of the last year), which would be unders right now. Some players are worth gambling on. Kelly has been the most effective player in the AFL for over a year now. He will only get better.

This bloke abuses everyone in that team. Does not discriminate....

The ONLY Team in the AFL that the umpires actually straighten up, when their players are kicking for goal, to put them on a lesser angle. Amazing!!

gw$ have 26 fit players to pick from, and currently have neafl, vfl and wafl players playing for em.

it's gonna be frightening if they can get their best players all fit at once.

Yeah, but how many missing from their best team ?

Deledio is shot and hasn't played a game for them.

Coniglio, Griffen, who's very average these days, Haynes, Stevie J, who's on his last legs, and Lobb.

They may have a lot of injuries, but their guns are well and truly playing.

Watched the Giants match on Foxtel and nearly threw the console at the screen. Dwayne Russell is such and embarrassment commentating. His barracking for the druggies was to the point of sickening. Why do they persist with him I'll never know.

Yes. There is absolutely nothing like able about him.  Never looks happy - Druggists deserve him and vice versa.

Obviously I'm in the minority, but that's why I love Goddard.

He cares about the result, he shows passion. Yes, there are other ways to show it other than taking it out on bowl of lollies, but you are left in no doubt about how much he cares about trying to win a footy match.

He has been great for us in a really trying few years.

Funny, I have read over the years on this forum so many people bemoan Melbournes lack of passion and leadership, yet you guys bag Goddard. But I guess if you don't follow him closely, which you obviously don't, why would you, it's easy to draw to the conclusion he just yells and points a lot and isn't a leader. Plus he plays for Essendon, so he is behind the 8-ball from the start.

Absolutely he can be, but his love handles and gut are amazing.

Yeah he may have just got comfy. Coming to the end. I don't like him because he is a sniper, and could have did more damage in his time (dangerous). But as a footballer I admire his persistence. He didn't have a great career at Carlton, but has rejuvenated himself at Norf.

See, we can go in circles here, so this is the last time I'll make my point.

It's easy if you don't follow Goddard closely to draw the conclusion he just berates teammates and throws tantrums, but there is a lot more to him than that when it comes to his leadership. You've stated you virtually don't watch Essendon games cos you can't stand us, so I doubt you can form an educated view of Goddard and his leadership. I assume you would have seen the article in the Herald Sun on Goddard this week, saw it was written by Mark Robinson and you would have assumed it was Essendon dribble and not read it. If you read that article, it will show you what type of man Brendon Goddard is.

Mark Robinson and Brendon Goddard

They both excelled themselves this week.

I watched Godard for years at St. Kilda and then he walked out

Whatever happens now i couldn't care less. He walked into a drug den looking for success

Not very cluey is Brendon

I don't think they were going to pay high if you drive head down into an opponent's midriff

And Norf goals from a throw pass

Can Toiges pull off a narrow loss from here?

Smashing a plate of chips or whatever is the poor man's passion and leadership. Any idiot can take the easy way out and show pretend passion like that. Doesn't give him any points with me.

Goddard is a good player but he acts like a petulant child too often.

I agree with Ash in that he has an excellent football brain, makes the right decisions more often than not, and communicates them effectively to his teammates...sometimes.

He seems to be extremely arrogant but then again he's a very good footballer, so why shouldn't he be.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
